Oh yes because Andy has such a proven track record of winning in the playoffs? I love Andy but he's 1 game above 500 for his playoff career.

One hit wonder in the sense if they don't return to the SB this year, they likely won't in the near future. We can argue this all day but that doesn't make much sense since we're at least two years away from the outcome. Let's just wait and see. I have history on my side with teams who were in similar situations. Heck just look at Andy's former team. They aren't scaring anyone and are on a downhill slide. KCs overinflated contracts will come due. Even with Mahomes who they haven't PAID yet, they won't be any kind of perennial juggernaut. Competitive yes, someone teams are scared of not so much.

Enjoy the run while it lasts. That's a great young team. Fun to watch.

Belichick doesn't have a proven track without Brady, hopefully he can change that

The Patriots' core doesn't really exist without a QB, tbh.

Ok so you feel one player is the core of a 53 man roster? Strange.

I remember a certain QB being out and the team not missing a beat on two occasions. I'll gladly take an 11-5 season.

Or are you saying without seeing Stidham in this system with all the first team snaps he can't or won't be as good as Cassel, Brissett or Jimmy G?

Some Patriots fans in here act like Stidham ≥ Brady in 2020 and the defense lost nobody.

Many fans on here struggle with reading comprehension due to their hater blindness. At least I hope it's their hater blindness? Otherwise I guess we chalk it up to ignorance:noidea:

No we haven't. You have no QB to speak of.

If this comment was meant for me, NE didn't have a QB when they started the likes of Matt Cassel, Jacoby Brisset or Jimmy G. As a matter of fact I believe most of the doubters are still saying they need a bigger sample size to see if those guys can compete at this level:scratch:

I am betting heavily against it based on his play at Auburn.

I hope you're right. But what separates BB from the other coaches is his overall track record.

The question would be if you had to pick a coach to get you into and thru the playoffs and win the SB would you take Reid or BB?

If you added in taking you to good BBQ places.....I’d take Reid easily.....

Fair enough.

Many also doubted that gangly kid out of MI going number 199.

They also doubted the three other QBs I mentioned who have had and are continuing to have decent careers. Better than the six picked before Brady in the 2000 draft.

I'll bet that BB found another capable starter? So far he hasn't given me any reason to doubt him when it comes to selecting QBs. DBs and WRs no we're talking a different story altogether.

Not sure yet, Bill only made the playoffs once w/o Brady so next few years will tell. It's obvious the QB makes a huge diff as Andy won the SB finally with a stud Mahomes, and could have last year, if Ford doesn't jump off sides against NE in AFCG.

The thing is Cassel and Brisset were... never good?

I'll give you Jimmy G though.

Duh, that goes without saying. I'd low crawl thru shards of glass to find Andy's favorite eating spots. I'm a foodie and that boy has it going on.

Their current cap would tell us there was just a tad bit more talent on that team than just Mahomes. But point taken.

Well if that is in fact a true statement not just conjecture on your part? You're proving my point. All three had winning records in NE under coach BB.

Cassell went 10-5 with an easy schedule like NE has this past season, and scored 200 pts less than the same 2007 team with Moss that won 18 games. He also went 10-5 in KC and they made the payoffs his 2nd year. Jimmy was 2-0 and Brissett was 1-1, Buffalo shutting out NE for first time in 40+ years in Foxborough

I'm not a subscriber to the easy schedule arguments. You play whatever NFL team is on your schedule every Sunday. Division games are routinely tougher because teams know each other that much more.

You're also helping prove my point. All three played well enough to win the BB system. We can go on and on about every QB and coach combo, year by year and see how they faired? But there are too many variables. Sometimes they have a good offense, sometimes they have a great D. Sometimes they have what some like to say is a tough schedule. Sometimes it's the weather or injuries...sometimes it's none or all and sometimes teams find a way to win.

Bottom line none of us know how Stidhman will perform assuming he even gets the starting gig? I'm simply saying BB has had a pretty good track record of finding QBs. I hope he's found one more?

No I'm not 1-1 is not a winning record and the loss was a shutout at home to Buffalo, Brady layed 41 pts on them on the road. If Pats didn't have an easy record in 19 , they would have been lucky to have gone 10-6. If Pats didn't have an easy schedule in 08, they lucky to go 8-8. They went 5-3 at home? They lost to Miami 13-38 at home, lost to Pitt 10-33 at home, getting the drift??

1-1 is not a losing record either. So combined those three QBs mentioned have winning records under BB.

I think we've differed enough on the variables that are in play from week to week, year to year, game to game. No one knows what outcome any game would have if you change any or one of those variables for a given game or season. So we can continue to speculate, or we can look at the actual numbers. I know you feel it was more Brady than BB and that's fine. Time will shed a little insight on that? But we'll really never know as the variables will be different. How would Brady fair in NE in 2020 we'll never know even if he has a great season in Tamps Bay. Two different teams, two different schemes and two different schedules.

I hope them both the best, I just hope as a Pat fan BB does a little better like another SB win. If it comes against TB all that much sweeter.

Let's wait until he beats out Hoyer and go from there.

Agreed, I just mentioned in this thread or another that "if" Stidhman is the starter...

I don't think he'll have difficulty beating out Hoyer though. I'm just not sure who BB may still bring in? Can't see BB going into camp with just two QBs on the roster considering they released Kessler.

Yes BB is 18-19 in NE with other QB;s , hopefully he can improve on that and get NE into playoffs
