If Miami forks over two 1sts for Jones I don't immediately say no given the cap ramifications of paying a DT 20-25M when you're already paying Clark.

As mentioned above, what the Niners just did with Buckner.

Maybe not? But there is going to be some serious moves required this year and next.

First they can't even sign a draft pick currently. Granted they only have 6 right now? Regardless they need to plan for the future. So will have to sign a few.

Watkins, Clark, Mathieu and Hill's contract/cap hits are crazy. Frank Clark has a $56M dead cap Hill and Mathieu are 22M and 21M dead cap. Watkins is the only reasonable one and he's a 7M dead cap.

No rookies signed yet and Mahomes due, OUCH!

I didn't even look at when some of these contracts and guys like Kelce end.

KC could very easily be looking at a one year wonder. They'll be competitive as long as they have Mahomey but another SB????

That's why BB signs a bunch of aging vets and has avoided overpaying.

KC needed this one badly. NE can afford to play it differently.

I'm not blaming them. I was just addressing what their near future probably holds because of all those crazy contracts.

BB's model has not only proven successful but also a way to sustain a quality team.

No team with Mahomes and Andy Reid is a "1 year wonder" in any context.

Can have a bunch of bums on defense and get the 1 seed as they did in 2018.

177 bucks they could buy Trubisky from us.

The Bears will also have to throw in a year of oil changes for the front office... I was considering one dinner a week for Andy, but the oil changes are letting them off the hook

We don't have the cap space to feed Andy.

not no more:suds:

hiefs restructured Sammy Watkins' contract.
Initially set to sponge the largest cap hit ($21 million) among all wideouts in 2020, Watkins' restructured one-year deal doles out a $9 million base salary with a chance to reach $16 million in additional incentives. While this move fortuitously creates $5 million in savings for the organization, it also keeps the 26-year-old entrenched as the team's starting slot receiver for another year. Sophomore speedster Mecole Hardman's breakout will likely have to wait since this reshuffling ensures 10-of-11 starters (minus former LG Stefen Wisniewski) from the team's Super Bowl-winning offense return for one more run. Watkins' fantasy outlook remains a late-round dart based solely on his three-game postseason resurgence (14/288/1).

Oh yes because Andy has such a proven track record of winning in the playoffs? I love Andy but he's 1 game above 500 for his playoff career.

One hit wonder in the sense if they don't return to the SB this year, they likely won't in the near future. We can argue this all day but that doesn't make much sense since we're at least two years away from the outcome. Let's just wait and see. I have history on my side with teams who were in similar situations. Heck just look at Andy's former team. They aren't scaring anyone and are on a downhill slide. KCs overinflated contracts will come due. Even with Mahomes who they haven't PAID yet, they won't be any kind of perennial juggernaut. Competitive yes, someone teams are scared of not so much.

Enjoy the run while it lasts. That's a great young team. Fun to watch.

Why is that? The core of the team is still in tact. NE still has BB. They have 12 picks upcoming. Next year they have a ton of cap.

Big loss this off season was Brady and Scar and to a lesser extent the three combined LBs/DEs.

Same year different day. We've seen this year in and year out.

The Patriots' core doesn't really exist without a QB, tbh.

No we haven't. You have no QB to speak of.
