We can if we can work out something with Crawford. We need him because we are thin up front, but his salary is ridiculous for a guy who managed 90 snaps in 2019 and isn't likely a starter anymore. Always battling injuries which causes diminished play, which is why he is viewed as overpaid.
What do you think Dre Kirkpatrick would command for a 3 year deal? 6M per? 7?
I don't know what the CBs have gotten in FA this year.

i think he offered to rework his contract. also heard the Cowboys weren't interested. personally i would have worked with him. he is a decent backup all along the DL so taking what he's owed this coming season($9.1M) and stretching it over another year or 2 would make sense

going by spotrac we have $18000958 available but that doesn't take into account the 2020 cap hits of Blake Bell, Dontrae Poe and Joe Thomas which should account for approximately $99300000 off of cap and if Randy Gregory gets re-installed that's another $980000 against the cap. that would leave the Cowboys about 8M so don't see Dre coming here
$8M would be enough for what Fitzpatrick's 2020 cap hit would be

They could create $20 million in about 5 minutes if they needed to

like to see him here but we would have to address some salary adjustments to clear enough to cover the draft class and any further FA signings like Dre
Not saying I wouldnt want to kick the tires on him (as Pday says)
Just guessing where he ends up.
Minn. lost 3 (or more) DBs & he has already played with Zimmer before.

What effect over the next couple of seasons
Literally none. With the 17th game and two extra playoff teams added, the cap will be up to $240 million within 3-4 years. That's why the Cowboys and Dak are stick on 4 years vs 5. They have agreed on $35 million per. Problem is the Cowboys want him for 5 years plus a tag, Dak wants to be a FA again in 4 years when the rate might be 45-50 per

which is why I sit in Dak's corner for 4 years

And why I think its gonna be a real interesting draft. I'm in a mock here on the Hoop right now and just picked for the Cowboys. A kid that I thought was a top 6-7 talent fell so I took him, but nearly picked Jordan Love. I think Love will be great after holding a clipboard for a year. He also would give the Cowboys the leverage to get Dak up to 5 years, which would be fine too

I didn't see where he offered to re-work his contract. I just saw an article stating that the team said they weren't looking to do that or least not right now perhaps. Maybe they will revisit after the draft or after the Gregory situation unfolds or maybe they are looking to either extend him or outright cut him. I really like Crawford as part of the rotation but there are much better uses for $8M in cap space as we all know. I've said going on 3 years now they should cut him and use his money elsewhere or rework his deal. The guy was paid like a superstar and was never more than an average player.

I don't know which is worse, seeing Dez on the same field as Dak and Zeke or seeing them all too dumb to realize they shouldn't be doing this shit right now...

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Raiders and CB Eli Apple were unable to finalize their agreement, and that Apple has returned to the open market.
It is unclear if the hangup was physical or financial. Apple was reportedly set to make $6 million on a one-year pact. With much of the money now spent, Apple will have a difficult time matching that number on try No. 2. Considering the bizarre climate amidst the coronavirus pandemic, there could be a few more reported deals that fail to come to fruition. Still only 25 in August, there should be no shortage of teams interested in turning around the No. 10 overall pick's career.
