Could not find any takers in a trade because of his value to his contract. Be interesting to see what another team is willing to give him a contract per year for. I imagine, Kirkpatrick is not going to like the offers and takes a gamble on himself in a 1 year deal for about 6 to 7 million.

Probably a fair assessment, honestly.

I don't think he ever really fit in the scheme after Zimmer left, personally. And, in all honesty - where he was picked, it's not like the Bengals missed out on a bunch of great players around that pick, either, so it's hard to complain.

I think the bigger error, IMO, was re-signing him. I thought at that point, it was time to move on in a different direction - and I still feel that should have been the case today.
