Biggest name: Shaq

Best Player: D-Wade

Kevin Love also re-signed in Cleveland to stay with Lebron's team. If memory serves, Ray Allen signed with the Heat to be on Lebron's team.

If AD re-signs, he'll be the top FA to sign on to Lebron's team. Right now, he's just the best player to force a trade to Lebron's team.

Lebron joined Dwayne Wade's team, not the other way around.

And AD didn't sign on to play with Lebron, neither did Kevin Love. They had to trade a bundle to get them off teams they were demanding trades from.

So in Lebron's career -- the two premier FA's who have agreed to join on with him is 37 year old Shaq and 37 year old Ray Allen.

Boston would have given up Tatum to get AD if they thought that he would re-sign with them. He told them he wouldn't, so they took Tatum off the table.

In fact, if memory serves, the AD trade ended up being delayed a couple of days because the Celtics were allegedly considering making the trade anyway, trying to make a title run this season and then hope that having been to and maybe won the finals, he'd decide to re-sign.

Lebron joined Dwayne Wade's team, not the other way around.

Technically, Lebron joined Wade's team, but Lebron, D-Wade and Bosh all figured out that they were going to be FA's at the same time and the 3 of them decided to sign with the Heat.

After the first season, the Heat became Lebron's team because D-Wade was smart enough to see that he was the better player.

They could have signed together in Cleveland or Toronto, but they were 3 young millionaires...they were going to Miami. lol

It also helped their decision that Lebron didn't trust the Cavs FO and I doubt Toronto was ever truly considered.

This refutes absolutely nothing I said.

In fact, it backs up what I said. The Celtics could beat the Lakers offer by including Tatum. They decided not to include Tatum because they knew AD wasn't going to re-sign with them.

That left them a choice. Include Tatum, and hope that they could win a title and that would convince AD to stay...

Or, they could choose to keep Tatum out and hope the Pelicans were dumb/still pissed off enough that they would accept the Celtics offer out of spite (which may have happened if they didn't fire their GM and hire David Griffin.

Considering how young Tatum is and that he hasn't hit his prime yet, the Celtics made the right choice, imo.

AD forced his way to the Lakers because he wanted to play with Lebron. Assuming he re-signs with the Lakers this off-season, he will have re-signed to stay on Lebron's team. It's really that simple.

Kevin Love was traded for because he wasn't a free agent at the time. Then he re-signed to stay in Cleveland and play with Lebron when he became a free agent.

In fact, he signed a long term deal to stay there and play with Lebron when he didn't have to and when many were speculating that he would leave and go to, of all teams, the Lakers.

If a player is traded to a team and then chooses to re-sign with that team when he becomes a free agent, it is him showing that he wants to be there.

I'll consider you trying pretend otherwise as your white flag.

Have a nice day, good luck against tOSU.

Both George and AD were going to be FA. So why give up draft capital for AD?:L

Lakers fans are FILLED with excuses. Answer me this -- who is the top FA to sign on to join Lebron's team in his career?
How about Bosh choosing to join Miami with Lebron?

shaq also came in trade not as a FA.

But Love said he wanted to be dealt to Cavs to play with Lebron.

are you just not aware for most of his career teams Lebron was on didn't have the cap room to sign others? Only time here the first time they signed Larry Hughes. Didn't work out due to injury/mental issues, but while not elite, he was a very good player year before we got him.

I'm still waiting on that superstar who signed on to play alongside Lebron?

First stint with Cleveland -- nobody would come play there. They finally signed a 37 year old Shaq

Lebron leaves to go to Dwayne Wade's team and it would/will always be Dwayne Wade's Heat with Chris Bosh. Big FA pickup -- 37 year old Ray Allen.

On to Cleveland who already had Kyrie and they trade two #1 picks and future #1's for Love.

Best FA signing to date -- still 37 year old Shaq or 37 year old Ray Allen.

On to LA -- where LA has max slots open to sign players during the greatest FA class in NBA history. The best FA they sign -- Danny Green.

I already named them. You're inability to grasp the concept is a you problem.

Your best bet wold be to quit while you're behind.

But something tells me you won't.

Behind? I don't think you understand what signing a FA means. When you have to mortgage your future to acquire a player -- that isn't signing on to play for a team.

Cleveland traded two #1 overall picks as well as another 1st round pick to get Love.

The Lakers gave up their entire future to chase a title with Lebron.

That isn't signing a FA. What the Lakers did was sign a free agent, when they signed Lebron. What they could have done this offseason with any number of superstars is sign another max player. They couldn't lure a single one.

Of course, Wade was on Miami his entire career. It quickly became Lebron's team after the 1st year. I'm not sure why you are even mentioning this, everyone knows this.

what helped is Miami has that beach thing going on and room for 3 max players (well, just a shade under). Not sure about Toronto but Cavs were way over the cap. If Miami were in the Midwest with no cap room and Cleveland or Toronto had Miami weather and South Beach Miami doesn't get a call back.

First stint in Cleveland they only had cap room one offseason. They signed Larry Hughes who had come off a 20 point, 6 rebound, 4 assist season. steals leader and 1st team all defense.

Never had cap room again in Cleveland, other than to sign their own guys who chose to stay with him.

Now I agree there are a number of guys who probably do not want to join the circus nor be the guy who gets blamed when you lose with lebron getting credit when you win during his career....but no need to make shit up for your agenda.

agree.....and in LA this was really the only time he played on a team with the cap room to sign another max guy. You ignore Bosh joined him in Miami, though, and AD asked to play with him (as did Love).

The Lakers gave up their future?

Their “future” is a collection of solid prospects that still haven’t managed to make the playoffs. None of the players the Lakers gave up currently project as NBA difference makers. They are all support players for a good team in the best case. Yes, Ingram looks like a nice player. But his stats don’t seem to lead to a lot of wins.

And currently the Lakers gave the best record in the West and are the team many are picking to win the title this year. Pretty sure Ingram and Ball were never going to lead them that far.

If he had said maybe they could win with those guys this year I could maybe buy it.......as Lebron would still be The Guy. Cannot imagine thinking they'd be any better with them instead of Davis, though.

Yes, the future. Ingram, Ball and Hart were three of their first round picks and they gave up three more 1st round draft picks along with them. Lebron only has another 3-4 years.

Ingram and Ball are only 22. Hart is 25. They have to rely on getting someone to sign with them after this year and as you saw this past year -- that isn't guaranteed, as Both the Lakers and Knicks, which used to be the two premier spots to go, both signed zero max players.

And I think LA has a great shot to win a title this year, but I think the team that will give them the most trouble is the team their share their building with. I think one of those two win it.

Next year, once GSW is at full strength and they add the top pick in the draft to Curry, Thompson, Green, Wiggins, etc -- the road to win the West becomes WAY tougher.

Once James is done, the Lakers will essentially be NO without any young talent on the roster as they traded it away, as well as their draft picks

They traded away a future of 40 win seasons for a chance to win now with LeBron and AD. Would have been incredibly stupid not to.

while I agree they should have made the deal, you really believe if they held onto those guys they would not have been better than 40 wins this year (assuming Lebron stayed healthy, and a full season).
