The thing is we don't know everything we need to know about this virus, like we do with the flu. It'll be interesting to see how this thing reacts to extreme heat and if it makes a return in the fall/winter time.
That's a concern, that this becomes a seasonal thing like flu. I mean, eventually they may come up with a treatment of some kind but it's worrisome to think that we'll be shutting the country down again in the fall, or every year.

Hearing talk of a 10 game season with no fans.

Not sure how that works for most schools as attendance is a massive factor in revenue to keep Athletic Departments together.
A 10 game season would be interesting.

No fans in the stands, not so much.

From what I understand, most health people can survive this shit. And, we'll stay alive without football and a whole lot of other things. But, there is a hell of a lot of difference in staying alive and living! JMO.

That really sucks to hear. Considering the first Saturday of a full college football state is 161 days away. I think there is a good chance it still gets played.

But.......I take solace in the fact that I know the nfl will play. Goodell won’t even move back the NFl draft a month lol. Yeah, they definitely playing that in the fall. They don’t want to lose that tv money.

My worry is that yes, healthy people are surviving but there is a percentage of them that require medical attention at hospitals with equipment needed to help them get over it...

meaning that hospitals will still be in trouble with getting PPEs and having ventilators available. If hospitals sink, no way football even in empty stadiums will be ok'd.

So NFL draftees still get to walk across a stage?

Just about everything with the draft can be done remotely.

It's way too early to say anything definitively about fall sports.

Agreed, I’m just looking at it from the aspect of he had an opportunity to push this draft back a month and he didn’t for what looks like bananza ratings as everyone will be absolutely starved for sports content.

What would be the rationale to push it back?

So players could possible get physicals, have workouts. Perhaps allowing team officials to be at the draft. I’m not suggesting having full lot of people and process but having something more than what the got now.

What really is the downside to doing that?

How many didn’t participate because of this? How many physicals can happen now? How many more workouts could happen now? How many pro days didn’t happen?

Is there really any downside in postponing the draft 1 month?

None of the above is required for the draft.

It doesn’t hurt to have it ethier.

I’m happy the draft is when it is as Belarus soccer just ain’t cutting it for me with content. But there is no downside (if you can come up with something I’m all ears) to postponing this thing a month.

That's a concern, that this becomes a seasonal thing like flu. I mean, eventually they may come up with a treatment of some kind but it's worrisome to think that we'll be shutting the country down again in the fall, or every year.
Once they develop a working vaccine it shouldn't be an issue. I read somewhere - can't remember where - that it doesn't mutate quite like the flu, hence why we get flu shots every year. This could be a one and done vaccine, hopefully.

However, I won't be shocked if this is a year without sports.
