Im with the draft..there are 2 or 3
Good
LhPers that will be avalible..to the mariners..at.#6..if spencer torkelson is there..they may take him..
I have not had time this year..
To do..what i did last year..
(Wish i did..of coarse)

However..spring..ball..is just starting....lol

This draft.is just as big a deal
As last years.
Where..they did do.a really good job
But..that..is always judged..ten years from..now..by fans..
And...graphs.....lolol

How about this marketing strategy for the upcoming season: Mariners baseball -- Minor League Baseball at Major League Prices!!!

That doesn't seem to be an upgrade . 3 years of showing he can't do the majors

Never feel sorry for the Mariners ownership. You know they were making just as much.

The next CBA is going to be very interesting because of this exact thing.

Sock and Puck had one of the owners reps on the radio show last Saturday morning before the game and the rep was saying how the owner of the M's is putting the profits back into the team or the stadium. Of course those two weren't buying it they were hammering the guy for even saying it but it did make you stop and wonder. They have done some changes around the ballpark, ( no not a Chico's bailbond sign hanging in centerfield)

I am curious to see when these you guys are close and they open the check book for the missing pieces via free agency how much they are willing to move that payroll cap up

That is what owners in every sport say though. Pro sports IMO is one of the only business models where it doesn’t hurt the overall health of the product if the revenue split between owners and players isn’t tilted way more towards the players side.

But that wasn’t necessarily my point with the CBA. The players union for so long had a gentleman’s agreement that the union allowed the owners to make huge profit by shafting younger players until they hit free agency then massively overpaying them, which isn’t the case anymore. It’s nice seeing deals like the Evan White deal start to happen but I’m guessing the players are going to start fighting for those type of deals to happen when a player is drafted.

I could be wrong but minor leaguers aren't part of the CBA so they also get the shaft thanks to greedy owners and union.

They pay union dues, I guess I didn’t think of that. The CBA has the structure of the minor league deals/rookie contracts though don’t they?

See I don't know that. I thought I heard it was a different union during suspension talks one time.

Wow, great article. Maybe it’s different now or it went somewhere else but when I was working with the Rainiers. All of the players were paying unions dues (only knew because of the brash hotshots took everyone out and bragged about their contracts and that little dues thing was on my paystub too when I looked at their check) and when I worked in the field as a bat or ball boy I had to punch in a different code and paid into them as well. I assumed it went to the MLBPA, but maybe not. I didn’t care and none of the players ever said anything about it so I guess I don’t know where those dues went. I also figured the MLBPA objected to the contracting of minor league teams because of that. So I guess retract most of my premise. I tried googling so is it when someone is put on a 40 man their dues go to the MLBPA? I knew there were contradicting reports of the PA wanted MLB rosters expanded because of that but I just assumed when you are on a MLB contract you receive more money, hence a higher percentage of dues.
