It got up to 50 here today so I grabbed the sticks and headed out to knock it around. Hit it ok but Phil and Joe couldn't make it so I played alone.

Caught up to some nice older gents on 18 and we talked for quite a spell. I told them I was a 3rd year guy. One of them first joined the club in 1979. and his older buddy who was with him has only been a member for four.

Great to get a FEB round in up there!

Talk about wacky weather...we've had mid 50s to low 60s most of last week...but rain for Sat so we book for Sun...forecast was for 60.

Friday morning weather they forecasted flurries for the GA mountains...rain for ATL metro for Sat. high 53.

Sat morning about 8, I tell the wife I was heading out to pick up a few things and hit some balls before the rain comes...she said, rain?...looks like snow, I turn and look out the window and sure enough, it was snowing and eventually dropped about 3+ inches out here. ATL proper and south metro only got rain. It stuck, but the temps did get pretty close to 50, by 5p it was off the roads.

Don't laugh, but 3 in of snow would shut ATL down if it was a weekday or if it had been forecasted, supermarkets wiped out of the basics.

Sunday it was pretty close to 60, but the overnight low was in the 30s, some snow was still on the ground up until about 10 so they didn't open.

Weird....my car said 74 driving home from work today.

Well this week I put my wedges and an 8 iron into the back of my car with full intent to go to the range/chipping green but it was closed. That's the closest I've come to swinging a club in a few months.

We're still frozen up here but I went over and hit balls with Joe yesterday. It only got up to 40 but with a little sun and no wind it wasn't too bad.

Tried out my new Puma shoes. They're very comfortable.

More unpredictable GA winter.

This was on Friday morning...SAT forecast 52...Sun 55, but starting out warmer...we book for Sunday.

Sat was much like forecasted...maybe a little warmer even. Sun...they missed totally, some showers came through early morning, it never reached 50 degs much less 55...it might've gotten up to 45 near the end. We were troopers and hung in there. First time I can recall playing a sub 50 round in a long time.

1st 3 holes it was windy so it felt colder...but we got it in.

Not so great scoring 45-45 for me and I was low medal by 3.

Thankfully cart partner Tim's a golf nut, prepared for everything! This little sucker made a difference.

Speaking of golf shoes...I was looking at Puma.

At one time in my life I used to do a bit of road running...5 & 10k and such.

New Balance and Asics were big brands...that I swore by. Both have gotten into the golf business a few years ago. I bought a pair of the NB recently. With the yucky weather Sunday, I kept them at home.

Comfy walking around.

The Adidas 360 tour has been the best golf shoe I've owned to date. I like the styling of the Pumas...may get a pair of their spikeless.

Went down to the Golf & Ski Warehouse in Hudson, NH yesterday to have the new driver (Epic Flash) that my kids bought me adjusted for my swing. Hit some balls outside with a demo, then into one of the simulators for some analysis. I was hitting it pretty straight with an occasional light push, but my launch angle was deemed a bit too high. Made an adjustment and brought the loft down to 9.5 and that was much better. I left my irons there to have them re-gripped with some oversized Golf Pride grips.

Heading down to West Palm Beach a week from Wednesday and definitely bring the sticks. We have a large group heading to Miami for the Bruins/Panthers game on the 5th and my son and I will play somewhere on Friday

Lucky you!

Well...Sorta

Shot 45-46 (par is 36-35)....back to back snowmen on the front, and triple double back to back coming in...4 holes killed the round...the sad part is only one drive (#6) was really a bad drive...the other 3 holes I was playing my 2nd shot...short game was terrible. Very wet golf course, several flubs and we were trying to find dry ground...6 three jacks on the greens...3 of those were GIR too.

Hit some good iron shots though, hopefully I can keep that going...normally a pretty decent putter so I won't worry about that for now.

We'll see what this weekend brings, but we're almost into March...still not out of the woods for some funky winter weather, but for the most part we can count on mid-high 60s to low 70s...real GOLF weather!

You can finally get the Jordans now.

Unfortunately, I've only done some sim golf this year. It feels like 14 degrees outside right now and we won't be touching golf weather until April probably. I'm actually very happy with my setup as far as clubs go, it's just a matter of hitting the links.

I was in PGA Superstore yesterday and saw them. Not to rub it in with your weather situation :D, but playing today and will put my new NB shoes in play for the first time.

I was more impressed with the Nike air max styles than the MJs actually. I think the next pair will be spikeless...maybe the FJ Contours.

Clubs...added a Ping 4h that I love, but I'm okay with everything else...for now. I'm considering a total wedge change....I carry 4 now, 48, 52, 56, 60...maybe it's age or swing, but these don't cover the range 70-125 yds like they once did...2 from the TM set, a Cleveland CBX, and a CLE forged blade style 60...3 different shafts too so I'm sure that's a factor.

Thinking of 46,50,54...58/60...get these fitted. Not committed yet, but eventually I think I will do it.

I was subscribed to Short Par 4 long enough that I have a few pairs I haven't even used yet which keeps me from ever looking to get any more of them. I have not personally tried the Nike Air Max ones but my dad swears by them and has been using them for at least a decade.

Consistency in shafts is important for consistency in results for sure. I have Titleist Vokey SM4s currently and love them to death. I highly recommend giving them a look even if you're dead set on the Clevelands which are also nice. If you're thinking about changing your wedges like that you might ask the clubhouse if you can demo some and see how it goes.

I'm a shoe hound as much a ball hound...good deals are so hard to pass up. The Air Max is $130, but there was a black on black pair for $80 on closeout....if I hadn't just bought the New Balance and yet to wear them, I probably would've bit on it. :D

Wedges...yes, the Titleist Vokey SM7 were the ones I'm most interested in.

Good thought...everything for me is a little longer than standard so I'm not sure how an on course demo would work. I can hit fitted ones in the store...I think Reunion golf club is a club fitter for Titleist ...I will check with them also because you can at least demo seeing your real ball flight there....same trackman fitting I think.

I always tend to forget that I'm lucky enough that standard length is essentially perfect for me. The only club I ever get changed is my putter. I prefer a shorter one than most people with a nice fat grip.

I suppose they typically have simulators in the stores to see how your distance is but that is still wishy washy vs. actually taking them out for a round IMO

For shoes: If it's gross out I break out the all black Footjoys that I couldn't care less if they get ruined (but they're troopers and holding up to anything I do to them). Anything else, I really like the spikeless ones because it feels more comfortable/natural.

I'm 6'3" with fairly long arms so I started out playing standard length clubs and when I got my 1st fitted set of clubs...the measurement was 1/2" longer, 2 degrees upright, midsize grip.

I love the data coming off trackman but much prefer to test a new club outdoors. But, generally not one to like simulators much either. There are people in PGA Superstore hitting in the practice bays with them for hours...on a rainy day I can see it but, not every practice.

Last check I have about 9 pair of spiked golf shoes in rotation and 2 pair of spikeless. Just started using spikeless and on a dry day, I like them.
