Ever since I dropped cable, Spectrum has been sending me ads about once a week telling me I can add cable for $44.99 with no contract. I'm guessing that's fairly competitive; I just don't watch enough cable to get my money's worth. They did have some nice features, in particular being able to watch from pretty much anywhere/anything that has an internet connection.

Spectrum actually has a 15 and 30 dollar streaming package provided you are using their interent, was just reading it on the cordcutters reddit

Verizon has adapted too. You get free cable with the Gigabyte internet (but you have to pay for equipment) and a free router for 3 years. Also no contract. Granted it is still 70-80 bucks a month for just the internet.

Sling just raised their prices $5 a month (although they added some channels). Both Dish and AT&T now also increasing. I guess they are determined to go down in flames as they just keep digging their hole deeper instead of adapting to the changing times.
Vue is shutting down at the end of January, so everyone else is going to go up.

Instead of using this time gap to gain loyal customers and keep the ones they have, they are trying to squeeze every last nickel out of everyone. Dish and AT&T will be out of the content business in 2021 because once Starlink comes out people will bail on their overpriced dog crap. Sling and Youtube will hang in there.

YoutubeTV I think is what I'll switch to in February. SOmeone else told me about Fubo TV but looks like more money, less channels, and less DVR.

However Starlink is priced at the beginning it will become expensive in time, especially once it drives out competition to some degree. Best that all survives in some form to keep it competitive as possible. Once football is over I will drop sling and just watch Prime and netflix until the football season starts up again.

Dont forget that Amazon will be right on their heels so there will always be competition to keep the price down. Fiber is not going anywhere either. They just wont be able to charge ridiculous prices for their product any more.

Sling is Dish FYI.

AT&T is purposely dogging its directv trying to get rid of it, it was sold to them as being better than it was then they bought directv and turned out to be a dog, much bigger dog than they were led to believe.

Youtube TV ande Hulu Live are the ones with the most staying power, they are able to operate at a loss provided it brings in customers for the rest of their content. since Disney owns Hulu they just bundle shit and say hey it works and it gives more options for customers

I am sure all the satellite providers will get bought out by Amazon. There will just be 2 in a couple years. Would not be surprised if Youtube and Hulu make deals with them to provide content.

Well i know AT&T was severely disapointed in the lies they were fed and somehow believed. I dont think AT&T will own it forever they seem like they are trying to get rid of it especially with recent moves where they are not allowing their streaming app on Roku (the worlds largest supplier of streaming devices/smart tvs os) All signs point to them purposely dogging.

The crazy thing is how Viacom (one of the biggest pricks out there) owns Pluto TV now lol definitely a great trend if they intend to keep it a free streaming service

FYI, YoutubeTV is dropping over a dozen sports networks as of Saturday night. Quite a few regional Fox sports and YES network are going dark.

I was already annoyed that their guide UI was terrible and there is no "flashback" to last channel option. Now they are dropping the only damn reason I went with them?

So next up is Hulu. Someone tell me if about them. :suds:

Hulu has to be the least reliable and glitchy of all the services I use (Hulu, Disney+ ESPN bundle, AP and Netflix). It messes with my tv - sometimes it will just disconnect from Hulu, push me back to regular-ass tv, but muted.

But I gotta watch the Real Housewives, so I persevere! I'm so brave and such a hero.

Maybe it’s my XBOX but YouTube TV crashes all the time for me. Not that it’s a major issue but it’s annoying as hell.

We dropped DirecTV and went to this 5g internet, YouTubeTV, Apple TV, Philo combination. I absolutely fucking hate it and will pay whatever to go back.

Apple TV route sucks. So fucking sensitive, too small and always gets lost in the couch, too much toggling. No channel numbers to find what you want to watch quickly. No go back to previous channel. Just a fucking pain in the ass to go between so many apps to find things.

I'm happy being a cord cutter. Prime, Netflex, Sling (until NFL football was done.) Lots of free app with firestick, do free trial periods to watch the the pay for apps, watch the best they have to offer then cancel as the trail period comes to a close. Have way more tv series to watch, way more movies to watch ( free) then I ever had with cable. Not even close TBH.

Other then the Sunday ticket direct TV has nothing to offer other then pay for view and info commercials channels. I have no idea why you would miss it.

Purely convenience, remote, and interface capabilities.

Guess we have had different experiences with cable cutting. Interface, remote , convenience etc. has really been no problem for me . Selection, availability, cost have all been on the positive side for me. No way in hell I'd ever go back to direct TV, I'd pay the expensive comcast price before I'd even consider direct tv again.

I have an HD Antenna in my spare bedroom. $10-15 at Wal-Mart, Lowes, etc. It plugs right in the back of the TV where the cable plug is. In the city, I get 40 channels with local HD NBC and Fox. Some old time shows like Miami Vice, Quantum Leap, Fantasy Island.. lol. PBS and a few other channels with decent movies. But it gets me the main channels for football. Not that I can watch my Rams in Dallas, TX anyway.

I'm thinking about going off the grid and cancelling my cable service. Just tired of the bullshit and them jacking up rates. Just use the antenna for local and other channels, keep internet, and go with Netflix.

I was looking at maybe doing the Sling TV that has ESPN, ESPN2, HGTV, TNT, TBS, AMC, etc but the reviews are not all that. Seems like they are new to streaming, but this is definitely the future.

Anyone know of any other ways to screw the cable companies and keep some money in our pockets??

I've had enough!

With CBS prime, Hulu, Amazon, Netflix and Youtube, you dont need cable except for sports

Gonna be big changes after this year. Dont make any long contract agreements. Keep your eyes open for announcements in the second half of the year.
