still surprised that this seems to be a relatively easy route to UFA.
Yea. Was having a conversation last week about how Dubas should’ve just threatened Marleau with AHL in order to get him out of his contract instead of give up a first rounder.

I guess the possible flip side here is agents remember this but GM’s should remember that agents will probably be in their jobs longer than they will.

also flip side is also it has to be mutual.
my first thought was $6M Little Things Louie, but then why would he stop collecting $6M just because he has to ride a bus?
also, the whole no movement clauses that GMs dole out to veterans like Marleau and Ericksson is a full-stop

Yeah, if I’m him I’m not giving that up. Same with Ladd with LI - probably a bummer riding the bus but he’d be a complete moron not to for that price.

With Marleau the stick was his precious Ironman streak and being too old to want to ride the bus. I think he might’ve bit and signed away the money.

loui collects his 3 mill signing bonus this July 1 leaving him with 5 million left to collect on his contract over 2 years. With his nmc gone, does he want to ride the bus for that ?

lets hope for retirement in the offseason. Barring that, my son is entered in the pregame skate with the canucks contest and should he win ... he knows what he has to do

I'm sure he would love to. I've been told that teaching the young guys how to play card games is an important leadership contribution .

He’s like a father to those kids who have been greedy reckless shits. Can’t buy that (except for $6 mil/yr).

Funny how the only guy who wasn’t in that “family” among the big 3 youngsters is the one everyone loves to pile on despite him having taken a reasonable deal and not ever scaring a woman to death (far as we know).

I read somewhere today that his 70+ point pace apparently makes his $6.9 M contract "much more palatable". These guys must have talked to my dad about how to really throw big shade on someone

Not entirely hating that trade as a B's rival. Of course it's 50-50 Kase turns it around and starts producing but Boston gave up a first and is still stuck with some Backes money and got a reclamation project in return. The D prospect looks alright too.
