@7Samurai13 Did you see the article today about Dantonio? It has his deposition where he states Blackwell never went on recruiting visits. And then he asked if he it’d be a NCAA violation if Blackwell did. His response: yes.

Blackwell’s attorney released a photo today showing Dantonio, Blackwell, Tressel, all posing in a recruits living room.

I’m guessing Dantonio knew what was coming and it is why he left so abruptly.

Yes, but by-God they got their man at HC. Only cost $5.5 mil (a little over a million per for each of Tucker's 5 total wins as a CFB head coach. :dhd:

I think considering the situation and timing — It was a great hire for them. Could have been much, much worse.

like what and worse how? like keeping an interim guy for the season then make your pick? UM fans wouldn't understand what with paying the kings ransom you do for Harbaugh,

they already had a year where they recruited like shit. Putting an interim staff in would have made it two years of recruiting like shit and set the program back a long ways.

They had a list of guys they wanted with Fickell and Tucker at the top. Did they pay too much? Sure. In the B1G, with the money they are getting, it is next to nothing though.

As far as Harbaugh — same thing. UM still profited $75+ million last year off football. So what they pay a coach is irrelevant. Harbaugh has alumni donating more money than ever, the player are graduating at a really high rate and the school is making more money than ever. That’s all they care about.

As a fan, I think he has been a failure to this point. His best year was year one, with the backup Iowa QB. He got that team to double their win total. Since then — it has been mediocre, IMO. I’m still holding out hope he can find an elite QB, as he has been able to do so everywhere he has been. But 5 years and only 2 starts from recruits he signed out of high school is pathetic!!!!!

MSU hires Jay Johnson away from CU to coach their offense:

CU finished 100th in scoring offense last year, which is hilariously an improvement on Michigan State's 104th finish. But not exactly a good sign for an offense that needed a ton of help.

With a 4 year starter at QB. Nobody is crying over the losses of Kap or Johnson... or even Tucker, because he has yet to prove himself (guess he never will). All this establishes is, that it takes tons of cash to lure unproven coaches out to East Lancing.

C'est la Vie.

And MSU is replacing a 4 year starter this year with....basically no one. Maybe they'll do OK but it wouldn't shock me if they somehow got even worse offensively and defensively (given the starters on defense they lost as well). And, you know, Dantonio giving the new staff absolutely no ability to recruit any players to his tire fire.

Well, he was more of a 3 year starter, it missed nearly his entire freshman season hurt back in 2016.
