Too early for depth chart talk
Never too early to assess the situation! :suds: It's nice to see where things are at right now gives us a good idea of ranking the needs. Also gives us something to chat about. They did leave a few players out like Biegel who may help out depth wise moving forward.

Howard's charges are dropped but we still need to find out what if anything the NFL will do.

RE Gurley: he's not the same RB that he used to be in production or durability. The Fins could get a top RB from the draft.
Good on X but he may face suspension still although I'd expect minor suspension.

I wouldn't want Gurley seems like damaged goods. Rather spend the money on oline. I'd be happy if they drafted a rb 2nd round or later.

Trade for Gurley + a 2nd rounder for our 4th (comp). Rams need cap space.

The Rams adding a 2nd round pick is the only way that the deal makes sense. Taylor has similarities to Gurley without the injures. Either Taylor or Dobbins may still be available in the 2nd round. Swift will probably be picked in the first round. A rookie contract on a younger player would be much better for the Fins. That said, the Fins have the cap space to absorb Gurley's contract for a couple of years. Re the comp pick. The Fins can keep that. The Rams are the team that needs the deal more. Their salary cap is a mess and they can't depend on Gurley. He misses too many games. They overused him and now they are paying the price.

Restructuring Wilson and cutting Jones would pretty much pay for Gurley.

Gurley is a bad move unless they can get without giving up much, the injury history worries me. I would think Taylor, Swift or Dobbins would be available with 1st 2nd round pick. I also like the RB from Utah, Moss, could be a third round steal. Also, I really hope they don't trade up to the third to get Tua.

I doubt the Rams do that, just because they wouldn’t have a pick until the 20th selection in the third round if it happened. And the Rams need to capitalize on the picks they actually do have since they’re going to lose some key contributors in free agency.

Huh, you think the Rams would give up a top 10-15 RB and a 2nd round pick for Dolphins 4th round pick? If they would do that Dolphins would be getting steal of the year, doubt the Rams are that stupid or that desperate.

The money they'd save by trading Gurley would really help keeping a more important(healthy) player.

While I personally wouldn’t have a problem with them trading Gurley, I just don’t see them trading their second round pick with him. They’ll probably try to restructure Goff’s awful contract to save quite a bit of space as well.

That would be the only move that they could do to move his contract. I don't really like it but for a 2nd would consider it. I don't think I'd even return a 4th maybe on optional pick based on production if he's healthy.

I'd honestly be pretty surprised if you guys did think about trading for Gurley. I was figuring you'd use one of your five picks in the first couple of rounds for a running back, possibly Swift out of Georgia.

The Fins should pick a RB in the first two rounds even if they add Gurley. The team would make the deal for the additional 2nd round pick, otherwise why bother? The Rams can keep him if they don't like that deal. The Rams have over 20 million dollars to pay if they cut him. There offense hasn't been the same with him not healthy. He still finds the end zone though. He had 12 TDs last year but he averaged less than 4 yards a carry. That's not a lot for the highest paid RB in the NFL. Playing for the Fins would extend his career because Fitzpatrick likes to throw the ball. Also Gurley would probably be sharing carries with a talented rookie.
If that deal didn't happen that's fine also. The rookie would get the majority of the carries.

In the Rams defense, Gurley has a degenerative condition and would not have lasted either way.
I'm surprised in this day and age with the medical resources available, that the Rams gave him that big contract.....

My scenario doesn't even involve Gurley actually playing. We'd just be buying a pick, although it's steep.

The Fins don't need Gurley they will probably pick one of the top RBs. There is big time talent with the top three.

The Fins should use FA to upgrade the oline. The Fins have the cap space to sign OG Thuney. He's been well coached and is in his prime. They could also sign Karras at Center. The question is would Kilgore be willing to accept a different role? He's had injury problems and he's older. He could bring depth to the lineup if he is willing. He has been a team leader. The Fins may draft a center to develop. That's also an option.

I think that the point would be to eat his salary and receive another 2nd round pick. You could use it for a young RB keeping Gurleys minutes down or simply cutting him. I prefer to get something out of him if anything he's a vet who can teach the youth.

I'd try to sign a good center and if no luck draft a guy to take over from Kilgore hopefully sooner than later.

The Fins just signed a LG. Flowers gave up only 2 sacks with 937 snaps for Washington. I like the signing. He played HS and college ball in Miami.

The Fins signed Shaq Lawson, DE. This is another solid signing by Grier, Flores, and the other Fins staff.
