Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic said on MLB Network on Monday that a Mookie Betts trade "is going to happen," possibly on Monday or Tuesday.
This follows a Sunday report from the Boston Globe's Alex Speier, who wrote that a resolution on Betts' situation was imminent. Rosenthal notes that talks continued over the weekend and that there was a "good amount of momentum for the Dodgers." The Padres are also heavily involved, but that scenario is a bit more complicated because they'd reportedly prefer to have Wil Myers involved in the deal. Betts might not be alone in a trade, as it's possible David Price could be traded along with him. Buckle up, as it could be an interesting 24-48 hours.

I think I misread this at first. I was wondering why the Red Sox would prefer to have Wil Myers involved. I mean, he's ok but.....
Then I saw that Myers is making 22 million for the next couple years and now I get it. The Padres would prefer to get rid of him.

Best home grown Boston player in a generation, and they're gonna trade him because they don't wanna pay him.

You know, if this were Pittsburgh or Cincinnati, OK, but Boston?

WTF?

Yeah, Boston trading Betts is a head scratcher. I just hope that they get the best possible package back for him.

Well it's clear he's not going to be extended and he's intent to hit free agency. So get value now (or use him to unload some contracts) and take a stab at signing him on the open market. The move would only be a head scratcher if they thought they were going to contend in 2020. Which they probably aren't.

Yeah, it's fucking stupid. It's even stupider in light of Henry's recent comments about prioritizing winning over the luxury tax.

Sorry to see Mookie go but if they can unload David Price and the $$ I'm OK with it.

Let's hope the Dodgers didn't overpay for Betts and Price. Not like they are gonna win the WS this year anyway lol.

The Bawstuns love their drama, like the girly girls that they are, but Betts and Brady aren't going anywhere. Brady will be a Pat until he retires. And Betts will be a Red Sox until October. No one, not even the Dodgers, are going to pay David Price $96 million just so they can have Mookie Betts for one year. Especially a team that won 106 games without Mookie in the lineup.

Red Sox paying most of Price's contract

But did I hear Mookie turned down $310? If that's the case then see ya

Did they also jack season ticket prices even higher?
