This helicopter crash is going to go down as pilot error not to mention in a big way - Traffic Control should never have let them go up with that fog coming in - The pilot was in trouble real quick and flying way to fast before going down.

From what I have heard - they Left Irvine around 9:07 or so, The pilot is licensed to fly in special circumstances and obtained permission to fly by sight and not rely on the radar - due to the fog - he had to circle before entering into the jurisdiction of the air space near Calabasas, for about 15 minutes, then was granted permission to fly into the cloud, he was flying to low and advised of that, which appears to be the reason he tried to ascend from 1200 to 1800 feet before crashing into the mountain. At least that is the way I understand it. In my opinion, they shouldn't have ever allowed the pilot to fly in Fog. I know over the years I have witnessed some horrible accidents, especially north of Bakersfield, Ca. In several cases over the years - 15 car pile ups due to the fog

I was thinking they said it took about 15 minutes to go from the John Wayne Airport to the area past Van Nuys, that's when they encountered heavy fog, had to circle for about 15 minutes or so which puts the wreck with after 9:37 or so.

No....he was a talented basketball player not a president. Lakers need a game off fine but not the whole league.

It has to be either pilot error or mechanical malfunction (or both). Does it really matter at this point?

Jeanie and Rob have reportedly been with Vanessa since the accident. Everyone is mourning (including the fans), and those two have known Kobe for a long time, practically as a brother. I just don't think people are ready yet (not that Friday will be much easier, but you have to get back to it). The franchise just wasn't up to hosting such an event tonight. Understandable IMO.
