GM Scott Harris Discusses Giants' Offseason - While getting more starters from the free agent market is annoying, and getting more infielders is needless, what I particularly find irritating about this is the idea that the FO wants a mix of "young and old" players. I thought the current roster has plenty of the latter. This team won't get better with acquiring more of them.

Giants inked Jerry Blevins to a minor league deal with a spring training invite. I'm a bit surprised that was all he could get. Maybe teams are weary about his age but his numbers weren't that bad. I'm okay with this move because he does not have a guaranteed roster spot and there are no other established lefties in the pen outside of Watson.

Giants signed Rob Brantly to a minor league deal with a spring training invite. I am okay of one of Brantly/Heineman playing at AAA but neither should be Posey's backup.

Hmmm. I would have liked this for the G's

You like poor defense in right field that much? Besides, this plays more to his strength (no pun intended), although it is yet to be known how offense will change at the ballpark formerly known as SBC Park.

At $16m per year, I could live with it. Plus, if this is to be believed:

I didn't realize he can opt-out after the 1st year, so that's not ideal. Although if he did that, he could be extended a QO and they could have gotten another draft pick out of him if he walked. Oh well.

Interesting. Maybe that 26 man roster was the precursor. I cannot imagine how cal will feel about this.

I don't think a QO can be given to a player opting out of a contract. I could be wrong, though.

Pretty easy to imagine actually

It appears that they may use Dubon as a super utility player. Sanchez is a legit defensive talent, though his hitting is less than inspiring.
That, to me, is annoying. Dubon's bat and Sanchez' bat should make that the opposite, especially on a team of "hitters" like this one.

Yeah, my post was very much tongue in cheek. I had already seen cal's response when I wrote that.
I apologize if my post was vague. I will try to be more concise in the future.
