I would say LSU fans need to temper their expectations. Prior to this century they were good but not a blue blood. Since 2003 they have 3 titles, are usually in the national discussion, and have locked down recruiting in their talent rich state. There is 1 Saban and 1 Dabo. A natty every 5 years or so with 8-10 win seasons sprinkled in between is something every program except for those two would kill for.

Hell, we gave Shula an extension after a 10-win season (his ONLY winning season at Bama) only to fire him a year later.

What Coach O and LSU proved this year, is that they will go out and get the coaches to surround him, pay them, and then let them run their show the way they want to run their show. Every wannabe coordinator would love to have that kind of guy over them giving them that freedom.

LSU will get more great coaches to surround Coach O. And lets not say Ed Orgeron is a poor coach either. He is a people person with solid background on the defensive side of the ball. He is also a sensational recruiter and a 'bridge' of uniting people.

He may not speak your language, or seem 'intelligent' to you; but when all is said an done, he coached one of the best teams college football has ever seen.

I love him and I hope you're correct.

It certainly appears that ADs/schools don't mind putting themselves in a position to dish out some huge buyouts in the future. One would assume they have access to so much money that such trivial amounts don't really matter.

It didnt work for Miles? How many years did he coach at LSU? Hahaha

After winning it all he coached there for 9 years. He did coach in another ship but he had plenty of just very good seasons. He will be fine for the next 5-6 years but I am not saying he will live up to expectations for the extension bc I dont think he is anything special tbh. Great recruiter, motivator and good on the defensive side of the ball but everything just clicked this year...that one great year is enough though

Eh, there is kind of a difference since Coach O actually plays 21st Century offense. How many times since Saban left has LSU been an modern quarterback away from a title or at least a shot?

I honestly don't give a shit what he did or didn't do for you but he is recruiting and producing defenses we haven't seen at Auburn since the Dye era.

Auburn would be an absolute hot mess without Steele the last 3 years and pretty much was after 2013 and he took over. I even argued they should have let Malzahn go to Arkansas two years ago and given him the HC.

I've got zero confidence in Malzahn but there aren't but a few select DC's in the entire country that producing at the level that Steele is right now. So yeah he's worth the money because it's not like we can replace him. I can name 10 Malzahn's out there and at least 10 more that could do it better.
