I'm sure the Yankees can afford him, somehow they always can. Trade a bunch of prospects. Still a huge, long-term contract to take on any books
I know he plays in Coors now but if he had half his games in Yankees stadium he’d hit .350 with 50+ homers every year.

Taking him? He is arguably the best 3rd basemen in all of baseball. He is only 28. Is the best defensive 3rd basemen and gives you 40 and 100 while hitting close to .300 every year.

The issue for Colorado is the opt in 2021. If Arenado won’t waive that — they won’t get a monster deal for him as it could be a rental.

He also has a significant home/away split.

Career:
Home: .324/.380/.615, 144 doubles, 21 triples, 129 home runs in 2188 PA
Away: .265/.323/.476, 109 doubles, 6 triples, 98 home runs in 2169 PA

Away Arenado's still a very solid player of course, but I wouldn't expect .300/40/100 if he goes to another ballpark.

Maybe next year IF Riley produces

Riley is taylor made to play in Colorado.

A player of that caliber, I’m putting anyone not named Acuna, Albies or Soroka on the table

Can't lose both Pache & Waters. Anderson can't be traded & I'd like to keep one of the catchers in our top 10 prospects. Don't really wanna see Muller get dealt neither. He's the only lefty pitcher in the minors, at the moment, with any promise.

Can’t send em both, but I’d be willing to send one along with Wright and Riley. I’d be willing to include Anderson instead of Pache/Waters since it seems Soroka and Fried are the only pitching prospects that have panned out, and Fried was never a top prospect in our organization

They wouldn't accept that at all for Arenado
Depends on the opt-out and whether or not he would waive that (maybe for an extra year on contract). Only getting him for a guaranteed 2 years would affect the quality of any trade package.

Nolan just back-tracked and called his comments "Out of character".

I don't understand what Colorado is doing here. They are looking to trade a top 3 or 4 player in the game.

I get that he signed a massive contract, but he could have gotten that from any team, his loyalty is being rewarded a year later by being shopped to the highest bidder.

they are, suppsoedly, tapped out payroll wise due to unwise moves like signing 3 huge RP contracts and the Desmond abd Blackmon deals.

Yankee Stadium doesn't inflate batting average. Coors Field inflates BABIP way more than the other 29 ballparks.
