He's obviously a Hopeless Harbs Romantic. lolz

They beat ND this year and thinks he has some say-so in the "We're back" convo while disregarding ND's accomplishments the past decade.

He will languish in inequity until the Slumber Party 'coach' can beat their enemy ... which they have failed to do … every.single.year

Oh there's no doubt that trustme fella has a football field sized man-crush on Jimmy Jam.

It is more pointing out — Notre Dame is in the same boat as UM, Nebraska, Penn State.

We will be forever stuck under the truly elite teams, until we find a way to pull more kids out of the south as recruits.

As long as the overwhelming majority of elite recruits are in the South. That’s where the truly elite teams will be.

ND's boat has a cfp appearance and a title game appearance though. It's not much, but it's something.

I like how you gloss over Notre Dame's wins over Michigan, Stanford, a ten win Syracuse, among others, to tray and make your extremely weak point.

Notre Dame made the CFP because they were one of the four best teams in 2018.

Michigan hasn’t been elite in 20+ years. We haven’t had a QB drafted in the 1st round since........Jim Harbaugh in 1986.

I’m not a delusional homer who thinks because UM was really good in the 90’s it means they are really good now.

The ONLY way UM will ever be elite is to find an elite QB who can help make up for shortfalls elsewhere because we cannot recruit like the top teams down south.

No doubt — it is WAY more than UM. I get to hear it from my brother all the time (he is a season ticket holder at ND).

Simply put though — we don’t have a fraction of elite recruits that they have down south and it is only getting worse.

Do you own a cell phone? A laptop? Do you have internet?

Use that cell phone and lap top and look up the blue chip recruits and let me know where they are choosing to go to school. I only had the chance to look at Alabama — they had 17 blue chip recruits this past cycle. 16 chose to go to school in the South, majority to Alabama, with a sprinkle of Auburn and Clemson.
Georgia has 37 blue chip recruits — 36 of 37 committed to SEC and ACC schools with the only one who didn’t picking Stanford for the academics.

So tell me again how all these elite recruits being pulled from the South

You do realize ND isn’t in any convo about elite either, right?

The two years your independent schedule lined up for you:

Alabama was up 35-0 before ND finally moved the ball at all.

And Clemson won 30-3 and you had 150 yards total offense.

Let me know when Michigan makes the CFP or title game. And yeah we weren't any good this year, and we still finished higher ranked.
Michigan has as many conference champions game appearances as Notre Dame.

You are as delusional as the UM fans who think they will be a national power any time soon.

If ND were ‘back’ they wouldn’t look like the scout team facing the 1st string when you face teams like Alabama and Clemson.

Lastly, if ND were ‘back’ — they wouldn’t curb stomped by UM by 31.

Hate to say it, but I don't disagree with you. ND won two games over teams that finished in the top 10 over the entire last decade. Hell, michigan has that many top 10 wins in just the Harbaugh era, which isn't a lot. ND is a nice program right now, but they're far from being elite, and probably aren't even a top 10 program at the moment. Their 2018 CFP run was among one of the least impressive for a team who has made the playoff in the CFP era.

What a I’ve learned in this thread about whether da U is back is that Michigan and Notre Dame don’t like each other at all.

Every thread turns into a “I dislike Michigan” thread if you wait long enough.

True, but this one has no Buckeye posters. A Michigan hate thread without tOSU fans is like the Cold War with no Russkies.

My brother is a DIE HARD ND fan and has season tickets for 15 years (driving 4 hours both ways for games).

He argue over everything and even he agrees with me about this.

Simply put — there are realistically 5 or 6 teams who have a legit shot to win the national championship in CFB right now. Clemson, Bama, OSU, Georgia, LSU.

Georgia — talent rich state, only big D1 program

LSU — talent rich state, only big D-1 program

OSU — talent rich state, only big D-1 program

Bama — talent rich state, smack in the middle of the all the talent rich recruiting states and they are Bama.

Clemson — Like Alabama, they are surrounded by elite recruiting states, and they are literally an hour from Georgia and have like 200 miles of the state that borders Georgia.

Teams like Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, Nebraska — big programs with storied histories — they’d need the stars to align to win a NC. They just don’t have the talent the truly elite teams have. They to need to find an all-American QB — that can make others around them better.

ND has a chance to sneak in from time to time, when their schedule falls right. But no chance they are beating truly elite teams in 2 games to win a title.

If Michigan wanted to win a title — they’d have to beat OSU, then win the CCG game, then possibly Bama and Clemson, in 4 straight games:lol:. I’m not holding my breathe.

Nebraska being in the B1G West and having no national rival anymore and next to no in state talent, nor talent in surrounding states means they have to go head to head nationally with all the top programs to bring in recruits. Just not happening, now that all the elite recruits are in the South.

Fans hate to hear it, but it is reality.

I'd add Oregon as a potential contender. They're building their team the right way instead of trying to just recruit a bunch of fast guys who can't grind. They own the west coast in terms of recruiting right now. Their defense has the potential to be really, really good in 2020. Losing Herbert hurts, but I think they can replace him. They have two blue chip QBs coming in the 2020 class, and their 2019 class was elite. Good things are on the horizon for them. I can't wait for the 2021 Oregon-OSU game in Columbus.

Regarding ND and michigan - there's absolutely nothing stopping them from bringing in elite talent, and they've both done that to an extent in recent years, especially michigan. However, the difference is coaching. They both run conservative offenses and their defenses can't contain elite offenses. Shea Patterson was an elite prospect and he had a fantastic group of pass-catchers, but Harbaugh couldn't coach him up. That's on him. I don't think either program will ever break through until they move on from their current coaches.
