He's in the hall.

We may not like it, but he's a shoe-in.

Eli is a no doubter HOF...

just one google search on his numbers vs HOF QB 's will shut any talking head up.

Plus he's got the golden bullet on top of that. Only 5 QBs in HISTORY has two or more superbowl mvp trophies... your boy is one of them.
yeah thankfully he won his last game so he didnt finish his career under .500

He has played in 236 games (started 234) & has 244 INTs!

The Giants should have stuck with Rivers, AMIRITE?
He finished with better stats in pretty much every category, so maybe? Who knows how he would have done on the Giants

Durability and stats is how you make the HOF. He was th Giants for a good part of his career.

I believe that you should be elite to make it into the HOF as a player. I'll concede that he was a good player, but to say that he was anything more than that goes against reality. He was a good enough player to be the starting QB on an NFL team for a long time and he compiled stats along the way. I don't think that makes a player HOF worthy.

Not sure. But Eli got 2 rings. All Rivers has is setting the record for most playoff starts by a QB that never made it to the Super Bowl.

How many qbs start 16 years? Sounds like an elite group.

You counting last season as a "starting season"?

So, you think Philip Rivers is elite and HoF worthy? Eli was, at best, the 5th best QB in this current era. If you think being in the top 85th percentile is "elite" then... Well... We disagree.

You may be the only one calling Vinny Testaverde Elite.

I guess I think of elite in a different way. His durability and longevity are remarkable, but does just being a starter for a very long time mean that a player is elite?

I know you said "at best", but saying 5th best in this current era is extremely generous. You are a very kind person. LOL.

I'm not sure how we demarcate eras, but from the players who played a significant portion of their career (at least 5 seasons) between 2004 when Eli entered the NFL to 2019 when his career ended, I think that most people would agree that at least the following QB's are better than Eli (in no particular order):

1. Russell Wilson
2. Tom Brady
3. Aaron Rodgers
4. Matthew Stafford
5. Kurt Warner
6. Drew Brees
7. Tony Romo
8. Peyton Manning
9. Matt Ryan
10. Ben Roethlisberger

And there are probably others we could add to this list. Should we count Favre, who played from 1991 to 2010? How about Andrew Luck? Luck had a short career, but when he was healthy, I think that most coaches would've rather had Luck as their QB rather than Eli. How about Cam Newton, Philip Rivers, and Kirk Cousins?

Rivers is generally just above him in positive categories, far better for interceptions, % and QBR, but Postseason does matter... On your list, I'd have the following above him.

Wilson
Brady
Rodgers
Brees
Manning
Ben Roethlisberger

The rest you could make an argument either way, I think. I would say at least most of those are better QBs, but most don't have the big accomplishments he does.

I'd retire too if Jason Garrett became my team's OC

It's always what you do when it matters that matters....

And there was no bigger lucksack when it mattered most than Eli.

A lot of luck involved in being clutch.

I think of Joe namath as the most overrated player in NFL history. So you wont ever hear me saying anything in Joe's defense. he was lucky to not being under 50% cmp pct.

Come on...

There have been others.

At least Joe was colourful. The NFL was pretty fucking tofuish back then.

A person would only think that Eli's numbers make him HOF worthy if a person doesn't properly understand Eli's stats. Yes, he compiled a bunch of stats, and his durability is remarkable, but he was a mediocre QB pretty much the whole time.

That said, I think that Eli will make it to the HOF. Undeserving, but he'll make it.
The football HOF is notoriously loose. Everyone gets in. Joe Namath says hi. Eli is getting in and good for him, good guy, deserves it as much as many there
