He got paid for it too. No?
he did, i mean great for him. Im not bashing, but the 1 game argument isnt a great one, we've seen it fall flat time and again. He'll have his chance.

Oh I agree with you. But it just shows how one game gets too much "credit"

If the 9ers were scrapping by with winning 13-10 or 10-3 or low scores like that I could see Jimmy G's stats being an issue but they've won 27-10 and 37-17 which is a 17 point margin both games.

It doesn't matter who you have at QB any playcaller would call the game basically the same if the running game was that effective with defenses showing no signs to stop it.

The only real critical flaw in Jimmy G's game is that he puts the ball in harms way too much. He was better at the end of the season compared to the beginning but he still has times where he gets tunnel vision and trusts that a guy isn't supposed to be there is and throws a pic or he trusts his arm too much and thinks he can get a throw in that he shouldn't try.

When he threw for 349 yards and 4tds against the Saints at their stadium, no one said anything. He had to come through that game and he did. This whole narrative is laughable.

Yeah, he has shown this season that he can be your QB in a shootout game and in come from behind situations. I think that Shanahan has a lot of confidence in him.

Even that game , Kittle took a two yard pass and turned it into a 39 yard play to seal the game and Sanders had a play where the defenders fell to the ground ( could of call offensive pass interference) for 75 yard play. 49ers are near the top of the league in yards after catch. Turning short passes into big plays. 2205 yards after the catch for the 49ers.

Oh I'm with you, 100%Buddy. I wanna see him do it. At this point he still can be flacco. Dominate the Super Bowl and wallow in mediocrity. But as a fan I'd take that.

Sorry, I should have stated ,earned a ring.

His contribution to winning that ring is debateable. Take out Dilfer and plug in a random NFL QB, and the Ravens probably still win that Super Bowl. Indeed the Ravens thought so much of Dilfer's contribution that they dumped him after they won that Super Bowl.

And the pats thought so Much of jimmy they dumped Him. We can do hypotheticals all day. One started and won a Super Bowl. Jimmy has his chance, And a good one at that

LOL, the Pats got something back for Jimmy. Anyway, this thread is a train wreck because we are talking about numbers from so few games and ignoring the historic rushing performance in the Niners' last game. And I'm guilty of keeping this train wreck going. Thanks, Harold! LOL.

I would agree he needs a larger body of work before we "label" him at what he is but so far so good.

He's 21-5 as a 9er, had 4 4th quarter comebacks this season, had the highest passer rating in the league when his team was trailing, had the highest completion percentage in the league on 3rd down, and now he's starting in the SB.

Again he needs to do this kind of stuff for a couple more seasons but aside from turning over the ball less he's done what he's needed to do so far.

All this stuff screams game manager. LOL.

This is really lame. The 49ers should have stopped running the ball at 7 yards per carry the last game to prove Jimmy G can pass for more yards.
Dilfer got a ring so if JG does I'm perfectly happy

Like I said yesterday, people can't deal with a run and defense team it's been so long

PS

https://www.************.com/commentary/2275-why-jimmy-garoppolo-better-you-think/

In many ways, the Super Bowl is the biggest media event of the year. With all the attention that gets paid to the game and the teams participating, it's no surprise that everyone seems to have an opinion or a "hot take" to bring some attention to himself or herself.

One of the narratives that's currently floating around is that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is some kind of a game manager who's just along for the ride. Garoppolo's detractors are pointing to the fact that he's only attempted 27 passes this postseason, and that his lack of opportunities has something to do with head coach Kyle Shanahan game planning around his signal caller.

While the idea of Garoppolo being a liability is gaining steam with the misinformed, anyone who's actually seen him play this year would know that's not the case. In fact, Garoppolo's been everything the 49ers have needed and more in 2019.

First of all, if you look at what he's done on the surface, the numbers were some of the best in the NFL. His 3,978 passing yards were the 12th most in the league and the fourth highest total for a Niners quarterback in franchise history. Garoppolo also finished tied for fifth with 27 touchdowns passes, and his 8.4 yards per attempt put him second overall.

At 69.1%, Garoppolo's completion rate was the fourth best, and is even more impressive when you consider that the 49ers had the third highest drop rate of any team (6%). He was also fourth in on-target throws at 80.7%.

But to really appreciate what Garoppolo's brought to the table, you'd have to look at his performance when his team needed him the most. When San Francisco was trailing, Garoppolo completed 73% of his throws at 9.1 yards per attempt. He threw 11 of his 27 touchdown passes rallying from behind, and posted a rating 115.7.

In the fourth quarter of games, Garoppolo was able to hit on 70% of his attempts and averaged 8.33 yards per throw. He connected on six touchdowns to only one interception, and was rated at 107.1. In turn, it's no surprise that no other quarterback posted more fourth quarterback comebacks (four), and only Russell Wilson, Josh Allen and Deshaun Watson engineered more game winning drives.

And what about that vaunted running game helping him out? Well, in Weeks 9-11, the 49ers struggled to run the ball to the tune of 2.8 yards per carry over that three game stretch. Garoppolo responded by throwing for a total of 989 yards and nine touchdowns to help carry his team. San Francisco went 2-1, and was a missed field goal away from winning all three contests. And winning is something we've become accustomed to with this particular player, isn't it?

As good of a coach as Shanahan is, he's 4-20 without Garoppolo as his starting quarterback and 21-5 with him. The two are a perfect pair for each other and there's no denying the impact Garoppolo has. Shanahan's 49ers have averaged 29 points in the 26 games Garoppolo's been the starter, and 19 points in the 24 games with Brian Hoyer, C.J. Beathard or Nick Mullens behind center.

Is Garoppolo a perfect quarterback? No, he's certainly still learning in a lot of ways and is prone to throwing the occasional "what was he thinking?" pass. But those flaws don't take away from the fact that in less than two full seasons as a starter, Garoppolo's turned into an accurate, clutch, Pro Bowl caliber quarterback who's one game away from a Super Bowl title.
End thread, drop mic.

Ha. That was an epic performance I admit. I loved watching it. Especially colonel mostert. Plus the reason kittle is the best ALL AROUND tight end. Not Bess pass catcher. Watching him man handle ppl. And actually using a fullback.

Dilfer was limited and yes had a good part of his career to show it. This is Jimmy 6th year in the league. Back up, on the IR, now game manager. Is 6 years a large enough sample size? I think so. However still plenty of time to change the script. Lets see if he does that.
6 years. Around two seasons worth of starts. Dude.
