The passing game is considered "explosive" but i'll take the running game where possible. "Running game" doesn't mean 3 runs and and cloud of dust, but if it works like the last two games, then lean run. Force the Chiefs to stop it and then play action will be "explosive".

The Chiefs run D ranked 26th during the regular season, don't see why we can't run on them?

Running isn't "explosive" but it takes you down the field nevertheless, and we've been scoring TD's off it. The 49er's run game isn't as limited as Tennessee, it can go outside left, between the tackles, or outside right, all effectively. Can the Chiefs run D defend sideline to sideline?

Clearly, the 49er's are best equipped to apply pressure on Mahomes. Not saying it'll in fact get sacks, but its the best D-line where you can't game plan against one guy. Due to the ability across the line, the Chiefs won't have as much opportunities to throw way down field. "Way down field" meaning like the throw to Sammy Watkins. This takes some pressure off the secondary to cover the quick Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman, and Watkins.

We're not going to stop their passing game, but feel we can slow them down.

Got This ,nobody has it better!!

haaaa, yes its a GREAT feeling for sure!

As we 49er fans know, the play-offs aren't a given every year. Then winning play-off games aren't easy granted this year it went our way having the 1 seed. Playing in the SB is something to enjoy for the next two weeks cause you never know when we'll get back? When the game is played it won't be "enjoyable" because it'll be too INTENSE! :-)

The hype leading-up going into this game is gonna feel a lot like the '84 SB with the Dolphins. Everyone was talking about Marino.... how could the 49ers possibly stop him?

Immoveable object vs. the unstoppable force!

We have a one of the best pass defenses, a pass rush and solid running game. Should be a matchup for the ages.

The best thing about this whole Super Bowl thing is that for the next two weeks ESPN will be forced to talk about the 49ers, no matter how much they hate to. They have no choice.

Ha ha! Guess this dude is picking the Chiefs

First-round NFL mock draft: Jan. 20

For me whenever the value is close in Round 1, i'd choose defense. But because we pick so late in the round, an offensive linemen could easily be the value pick? I'd be perfectly fine with an offensive linemen next draft, even if he's not the game 1 starter.

There are just too many injuries nowadays and we just can't afford to lose JG. So having a quality back-up Center/OG is prudent. He will certainly be the starter from 2021 on.

Oh wait, this is the Superbowl thread, not about the draft. To me doesn't matter who others pick, i feel if we don't turn it over, we have a better than 50% chance.

Not a problem. The article is about the draft but the post was put in to show this writer has already decided that the Chiefs will win the Super Bowl by giving them pick #32.
However, to your point, if they lose Ward, I might go Safety. But O Line would be OK.

Yeah, i realized it only after writing the first part. If writers want to list the Chiefs as the 32nd pick, fine by me. The game will decide it. But they have to write something and since the Chiefs are favored its only natural they list them 32nd.

The Chiefs are favored and better for me, i'm hoping the line goes even higher. I'll have my 49er bets in and don't think i'm just being a homer. The 49ers have the better overall TEAM...run offense, run defense, and pass defense. The Chiefs do have the better passing offense.

Our pass rush is the best they'll face all season, we'll see how consistent and "explosive" they'll be? You can't double both Hill and Kelce, so IMO double Hill. We have to allow the underneath or shorter stuff, just don't give up the long TD's.

That part I disagree with. The Chiefs are, and should be, favored. It comes down to which team can stop the other's strength. I like the Chiefs' ability to stop the 49er running game more than I like the 49ers' ability to stop the Chiefs passing game.

Your opinion is fine but i feel you need to look at the entire team, not just strength. Looking at four areas seems better than 2:

Passing Offense = Chiefs
Running Offense = 49ers
Passing Defense = 49ers
Running Defense = 49ers

The 49ers are better in 3 of the 4 areas so again, i feel >50% is warranted.

Next, are these strengths much more stronger than the other team? How far back is their run game compared to ours? Their run D compared to ours? Their passing D compared to ours?

The versatile 49ers can win ‘any kind of way’

Looked another way, the Chief MUST be good in their passing game. If their passing game is good but not consistent thru the game, they can't fall back on their defense. If Mahomes or O-line isn't quite as sharp that day, they can't fall back on their run game.

On the other hand, the 49ers can mix it up on D to pressure Mahomes. They don't need to blitz but they can. The Chiefs can't key on just Bosa or Ford. They can stop the pressure by keeping in the TE/RB's, but this limits their play calling.

Our offense can run as evidenced by the two play-off wins. Who's run D is stronger, the Vikings, Packers, or Chiefs? Who has the better pass rushers, the Vikings, Packers, or Chiefs?

Now all this being said, i already posted earlier if their passing game IS sharp thru the game, then we're in for a game. 'Passing game' includes pass protection.

Yes. That passing game cannot be stopped and the Chiefs have shown they can stop the run by shutting down Henry on Sunday.
It will take something unusual for the 49ers to win this one but this seems like it is their year so I would not be completely shocked if they did win.

I don't think any defense can stop the Chiefs but if there is one who has a chance its the 49ers.

The number I had in my head was 31 or a little less. I do believe the 49ers can win a game like that because I don't feel the Chiefs defense can stop the 49ers running game.
Don't sleep on the 49er passing game though. On that first TD drive on Sunday Garoppolo was sharp; no reason to doubt him because he only needed to throw 8 passes. If they run effectively that might open up some nice play action passing. That is my hope.
