I think resigning Howard is a must, you need that bigger back that can take the pounding and he can.

But, can he anymore?

My point....he was absolutely built to be that bruiser and take the pounding. I just dont know if he can take too much more of it anymore without injuries.

Still...as point has been made here...if we can get him back at the right price I would love to find out as we wouldn't be building the whole backfield around him. And man you could do some clever stuff with him and Sanders on the field at the same time.

I believe the price will be right for the Eagles, let’s not forget he was carrying the bulk of the running game prior to Mr Sanders break out. The year they won the title it was a two head system that helped milk that clock down

All things I’m for. With Sanders breaking out now he wouldn’t have to carry as much weight. Which is good for injury risk. And I do love the ideas that could come from having him, Sanders and Scott in there.

I am just not totally sure on the money at this point. But I hope you’re right and we take that flyer.

Two thoughts :

1) What to do with Howard will be entirely based off of what other teams are wiling to pay for him; if they are going to pay him handsomely, he goes; if nobody offers him a contract and are scared by his injuries, then we bring him back on the cheap

2) We need a reliable 2nd RB; if Sanders becomes the primary RB, he's going to put up ridiculous numbers (which he did in the absence of Howard), which would give him a lot of contract leverage when his rookie deal expires; by handcuffing him to another RB, they can suppress those numbers and when his rookie deal expires, we may be able to extend him for a lot less than the Elliot's and Gurley's of the world. Keeping your RB salary under $10M would be ideal.

1. Agreed on your first point

2. Agreed that we need a strong RB2, to free up Sanders in the pass game, maintain offensive flexibility and keep two guys fresh for a post-season run. But we know the Eagles as an organization are going to pay their guy if they deem he is a cornerstone player. If Sanders is going to have Westbrook/McCoy type impact, he will get paid eventually; no way around that and I have no problem with that.

That could be a very good hire for them....whoever their QB will be next year.

They've still got all their "biscuits" in one cart... a timid QB and an ineffective play-caller with an ineffective run game is wasting a pretty good defense down there. Flip is a tough love coach, maybe that's what The Biscuit needs. That's too bad, if we knew he was OK to going back and being a QB coach only we should have pursued him harder.

I don't think Howard is going to even get close to what he really wants. Compound that with not seeing the field the last 6-8 games due to injury ( that we really still don't know the full truth) I think he will take a team friendly deal.

Sanders
Howard
Scott

That's the Eagles MO with RB's under Dougie and Duece loves those three....

All new wr like buffalo. Say bye to Ertz, Peters, curry, Jenkins, darby, and use our great draft to get younger.

ERTZ???? Really?? I don't think so!! He's the best TE in the league, except perhaps Kelce. I want him here until he retires, and then go into the HOF. We also need Jenkins to stay here for a couple years to teach his replacement.

I am just really surprised that the NFL didn't act on it. He lead with his helmet, which should have been enough to warrant a fine or something, right? I don't care if he was established as a runner or not, the hit itself was still dirty.
I really think they didn't want to highlight that an illegal cheap shot essentially decided a playoff game. They fined a bills player 28k in the same meeting for a blindside block that was essentially a hard shove.

I have to say it....while I really like how the 49ers look I will be pulling all the way for the fat man to get his ring.

Yes, he is a flawed coach, but also one of the greats who deserves his ring.

Admittedly it’s easy to cheer for since 2017 happened.

Andy Reid is still one of my favorite coaches. He is a class act and I think he is still loved my a large number of people in Philly. When he left it was time for him to do. He did not get fired they talked about it and both Lurie and Reid were great about the transition.

I agree that Reid is a flawed coach but what coach isn't? I think this is the year he gets his SB ring and I for won will be extremely happy about it.

Agreed! 49ers are a solid sound team but something inside is saying please let AR get his ring finally!
