Best team to ‘get up’ for rivalry game?

I’ll set the bar with TAMU against Texas.

Those 5-6 bums almost beat VY and the ‘05 Horns weeks before the Horns won the Natty.

I'll add UCLA to the list. They seem to play SC tough.

Auburn against Alabama. They have the highest winning percentage against the Tide in the SEC and cause them more grief (by actually derailing Alabama seasons) than the other 4 powers (Florida, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee) combined!

Arkansas could be 0-11 and they will give LSU a game.

THIS

Auburn is 11-9 against Alabama since 2000...an era in which we have 5 National Championships. Saban is 8-5.

Nebraska always plays their best game against Iowa.

They had a come from behind stunner in IC about a half dozen years ago with Pelini running the show.

I wasn't just talking about this year or decade but all-time. The Vols have more SEC Championships than L,S.U., Auburn and Florida and are currently tied with Georgia for 2nd behind Alabama. The Vols are still one of the all-time historical powers in the SEC.

But not within the past 17 years.

So? I'm not just talking about the last 17 years. However, even if I was, Florida and Georgia haven't been a threat to Alabama either lately. They were a combined (0-9) this past decade. So, throw them out too. :)

MY POINT was that Auburn has historically done a better job of derailing Alabama than Florida, Georgia, LSU or Tennessee - which are the historical powers in SEC History. LSU has been a pain in the neck recently too, but not as often as Auburn.

As for the Vols, Tennessee is down now, but LSU was down in the 90s too. Florida didn't even win an SEC Championship until the 80s (on the field) and the 90s (in the record books). Auburn was down for a decade (70s) between Shug and Dye. Happens. All of those teams are still historical SEC Programs even with down periods in their history.

The funny thing is that LSU has a lower winning percentage vs. Alabama than Auburn, Tennessee, Florida or Georgia. So, maybe LSU is the one that doesn't fit.

:)

Tennessee hasn’t beaten Saban. Not once. Not even by accident. Not even due to a field goal.

History is great and all. But people rely on history when the past 2 decades have shown they suck. Not even mediocre levels of success.

Well, the post is about rivals - without a specified time period. Auburn has been a bigger pain in the ass to Alabama during the Saban Era, during this century, during my college football lifetime (1971-Present) and since the SEC was formed in 1933 than Florida, Georgia, LSU or Tennessee.

As for Tennessee and their Saban ineptitude, not sure what that has to do with then being an all-time historical SEC program. The SEC started in 1933, and Saban moved to the SEC in 2000. So, there was quite a bit of SEC Football played in the 67 SEC years before Saban arrived.

In the SEC, ONLY Alabama has won more SEC Championships than Tennessee, has a higher all-time winning percentage than Tennessee or has more all-time wins than Tennessee. So, if Tennessee is not a historical SEC power, neither are Auburn, Florida, Georgia or LSU.

P.S. I do not like Tennessee, and I am done sticking up for them! :D

Yeah. I am going with the vote for Auburn as well.

Seems like the more Bama has riding on the line, the more Auburn wants to beat them.
