Doesn't have to be a Natty, but those are hard to forget.

Many times, it is the games that lead to the 'turn' in a program that live with fans and when they knew they turned the corner.

It can also be an incredible game and moment that you can recall and always makes you smile.

For me it was the 1978 Rose Bowl.

All time... most meaningful?

I mean, I wasn't alive for it though I have watched the game on tape many times.... it would have to be the 71 GotC against OU.

Rivalry - check
conference title on the line - check
national title hopes on the line - check
#1 vs #2 - check

1978 Nebraska/Oklahoma for me.

Switzer had Osborne's number. We simply could not beat the Oklahoma magic, and there was actual talk of Ozzie getting canned. Heck, he was looking at the Colorado coaching job at that time because he wasn't Devaney.

This was one of the very best OU teams they had. Billy freaking Sims and Thomas Lott, they were going to roll into Lincoln, NE as the #1 team in all the land to once again crush all the hopes of Husker nation. And then the magic reversed. Sims and OU fumbled 6 times including the dagger from Sims fumble on our 3 yard line when it was more than apparent they were going to roll in for another late 4th quarter score to deflate our hearts. 17-14. It was glorious.

We ended up shitting the bed against Missouri and James Wilder the next weekend, but TO beat the beast. That set the stage for his 81-84 teams and eventual greatness as a head coach at Nebraska. Without that win, I'm not sure he would have been around for much longer.

By no means the most important, just one of my favorite individual plays. Wasn't even a called blitz on his part.

1998 against Washington State, when my beloved Wolverines won the National Title and were the undisputed #1 team in the nation.

I mean - the thread was started by a Husker fan...was there any other moment I could possibly have chosen?

Answer: No.

I think you got your teams messed up.
You didn’t play Washington State in 1948.

1986 Sugar Bowl - Wikipedia

The Vinny Testaverde led Hurricanes were big favorites.

UT kicked the shit out of them.

We got free tickets and we got about there an hour before kickoff. We drove from Nashville, TN. If I recall correctly it wasn't sold out or at least the stands weren't full.

Great memories.

We also broke Ryan Leaf’s spirit forever in that game, leading him to a tumultuous pro career kick started by that L. Our bad!

9/28/96: Iowa State 45 Mizzou 31

A glorious day in Ames (they happen from time to time), and the Cyclones were trailing 31-24 heading into the 4th Quarter. However, Troy Davis kept running and running and ultimately TD had 378 yards, and ISU had a 45-31 victory and the Telephone Trophy.

My favorite ISU game I have seen in person.

Beating Miami in the 93 Sugar Bowl was a big one. That said, we’ve had quite a few memorable ones.

I still clearly remember "The Catch". That was so crazy, both me and my father were sunk back in our seats, depressed we thought we were going to lose, and then Arland Bruce came up with that miracle catch, we both jumped up and yelled so loud my mother came rushing into the room wondering what the heck had happened, and that catch led to the game winning fb. And this year was a great way to honor that game, by having our beating a very highly ranked PSU AGAIN, partially make the 2019 season the best of my lifetime, SO FAR.
