Think Pace should trade back in this draft?

We're not exactly sitting pretty with our draft position this year. Here's where we stand at the present with our slots:

Rd 2 (43)
Rd 2 (50)
Rd 5 (142)
Rd 5 (146)
Rd 5 (149)
Rd 6 (177)
Rd 7 (211)

That's borderline fugly. Pace of course is well known for trading up to get the guy he wants, but aside from those two #2s, he's not exactly sitting on a ton of draft capital on which to barter. I'm wondering if this should be the year he considers trading back, maybe to pick up an extra slot, or maybe something like packaging one of the two 2nd rounders and one from the 5th in exchange for a late 2nd and a late 3rd or early 4th - something along those lines.

I hate threads like this. Trading forward and trading back in drafts is so situational. I want Pace to get good players. If there’s no one he likes in the second round, yeah, trade back. If not, pick your player.

I hear ya, it's virtually impossible to project any situation or to talk stuff like trade up/trade back. I was just moping about checking out this dismal draft for April and felt like posting something. It was a bullshit season and our draft looks pretty much likewise. But I suppose come April I'll start drinking a bit of the koolaid and get myself pumped up.

So we get the 43rd and 50th pick.......

Hmmmm

Im happy to sit where we are at.......Not sure what type of picks we could pick up by doing that, but Im happy with two no.2s.....

This.

Unless you can literally project who will be there when we either have chance to trade up, trade down or stand pat.... it's a silly conversation. Since nobody here can do that. I don't think it's something that is worth diving into.

We're picking up a 4th from losing Adrian Amos.

So with this draft order, I don't see a lot of capital available to pick up additional high picks... And the Bears are already loaded for Bear in the late rounds. Not sure what 2 6's and 2 7ths can nab you coupled with either one of the seconds or that 4th.... And who makes that move... but who knows.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

Given our picks, my guess is Pace tries to fill some holes in free agency.

We got holes to fill and enough picks to fill them plus FA. We need a cheap off season to get out of the hole we are in. Pace does better in the late rounds anyway.
