A good point was brought up about qbs being pretty much a backup after the first round.....
And it got me wondering, when is actualy our first pick.....?
It got to wondering about the draft and which player would be a good choice for whatever first pick we got.......
I dont watch college football and so I dont keep up with it other than hearing a name or two here and there.....
So after looking,it seems the qb position may not be the way Id go........But a few positions seem intriguing.....

WalterFootball.com: 2020 NFL Draft Prospect Rankings

So who do you guys have/want for a good start to your picks........?

My pick as of right now would be ot Mekhi Becton from Louisville........At 6-7360, he should be the type of guy that would be a great run blocker.....
Or possibly Tristan Wirfs from Iowa.....Iowa seems to have a distiction for having decent lineman.....

Like I said, not sure where we pick and eiyher of these two may not be there and of coursemy picks will change a 100 times by the time yhe draft gets here.....

I said this in the last thread. I would take Eason or Fromm if they slipped into the second round. I think both could be very good in the NFL. You can do a lot worse with a back up QB who could be starting by the end of next year. Currently, they are ranked 4 and 5 as far as QB prospects go.

If theres a qb that they think would be SIGNIFICANTLY better than MT, then hey Id be all for it.......But if they think they can wait till our 2nd pick comes around,I think they are wasting their time........
As I said in the orher deleted post,Mekhi Bexton drom Louisville would be rhe way Id go......At 6-7 369,thats one huge body to get some push........Especially goal line plays and 3rd and 1 plays......
Montgomery needs some blocking up front........and he spunds like a perfect fit for where we are starting to pick........

I’d like some depth and starters in the trenches from this draft, no doubt. We have two second round picks though. If one of those QBs or a QB that Pace really likes is available, pull the trigger. QB is the most important position in the game. If you want the Bears to ever have a good to great QB, you have to be willing to swing and miss on them in the draft frequently. This year, I think the QB depth is great. I think there are potentially 5 guys that could have long careers as starters. I say we take a swing at one. I say we do that every other year until we bag ourselves a franchise guy.

If we are getting a qb,Id rather we draft, not liking any of the freeagents.....
Tristen Wirfs of Iowa. was another o-lineman that looks intriguing......

I rhink qb and olineman is what we teally need to concentrate on.....

I think at this point in time, I'm inclined to go with your train of thought. All things being equal, I kinda had the OL/TE positions for our two second rounders or even OL/DB. But if a good QB has slipped to us by the time we're ready to select, I'd be fine with taking him.

Our draft in 2017 went Mitchell Trubisky, Adam Shaheen and Tarik Cohen.

It could have been Patrick Mahomes, Alvin Kamara and George Kittle.

With Eddie Jackson still coming to us in the 4th, BTW.

I know revisionist history is bull shit and that the Trubisky stuff is redundant by now. But still... I don't care. Holy shit and good f'n riddance to the above fact.

Haven't gotten too deep into the draft yet, but if for whatever reason Jordan Love starts dropping, the Bears would be wise to think about making some kind of move.

Hunter Henry anyone......?

Not sure about his blocking skills, but I tend to think hed be a great acquistion in the freeagency pool.....
And I dont think hed be all that cost effective either.......

I hope we give him an interview.....

Maybe a 3rd rd pick for us if hes there, but Im more for a readier starting qb in the draft if thats possible when our picks come around, cause right now Im for some o-lineman so we can get Montgomery some space to run.........
With our two 2nd rd picks,I kinda think its a bigger need than qb........

I can't agree with signing another rookie qb until the bears have shown some understanding of how a competent offense works. They're just throwing logs on the fire. Gotta be happy for Mahommes that he went to a team that knows how to play O. DW probably just as screwed in houston as he would be if the bears took him.

The bears might not be that far away, a stud to replace long and coax Gronk out of retirement and we're knockin on the door, simple right

Well I dont think Watson is screwed....Hes got great wrs to play with, his o-line has finally gotten better with the addition of Tunsil.....And it showed big time this past season.....
DW is head n shouldets above Trubisky....Yhe guy straight up can ball.....

Im all for getting two o-linemen with our first two picks of the draft.....I just dont like the freeagent qbs nor am I satisfied yet with the qbs that will drop to us in the draft....

And as far as Gronk goes, nag, his time has passed.....Id rather see us go after Hunter Henry......
