Well no shit media outlets.. of course Harbaugh would defend his QB.

Harbaugh defends Jackson's playoff failure

Now I do find this rather amusing Harbaugh is talking about all time greats like Manning, Montana, Favre, Young, Rodgers, etc. and their playoff record...

There's a difference Hardouche.. they weren't going to be out of the league in < 5 or so years because none of them ran the football near as much, were actually good passers, and didn't take hits like Jackson does.

I am sure the Ravens fans on this forum will react to this OP in an entirely calm and reasonable manner.

Ravens fans on this forum wont say shit, because they deep down know that Lamar is on an EXTREMELY limited window and I'm accurate.

He's gonna have to adjust at some point, he can't keep running like he is, it never works...

LJ has been way over hyped like every black qb that wins a few games in the NFL these days...
He looks to be Mike Vick the sequel at this point, but that loss was not his fault IMO....
Harbs left out a few facts with his little excuse pep talk.....
1. This team as a whole , won 14 games beating the best team in the league along the way.
2. was #1 seed and highest scoring team in the league
3. got an extra week to rest and game plan
4. Home field advantage
5. top 3 D and best against the run
Everything you could ask for was in their favor
What does this outstanding HC do, let a 6 seed that barely made the playoffs, with a backup qb and a player trying to be a HC, beat the snot out of them in front of a home crowd....
He defended the qb and rightly so, but he should've apologized to the fans and his players for his no show effort to coach them to what should have been a breeze through .
He was out coached, and he let his players get out played because of his ineptness...
It's all on Harboob, plain and simple....

I......

I'm at a loss.....

Would you please marry me? That's an extremely honest answer and accurately addresses points from a fan within a fanbase I'm criticizing. Overall, it makes complete sense to me. Great reply man, my work here is done...

lol I couldn't give 2 shits what people think about Lamar.

Lamar haters were M.I.A. for like 3 months after talking shit about him all offseason. Of course they wait until he has a bad game/loss to come out of hiding.

Young QB's struggling in playoff games isn't a new thing. The guy clearly made great strides as a passer after last year with room to get better with age. Not terribly worried about him tbh.

Lamar Jackson isn't a big game QB. Too pouty on the sidelines and just not enough heart/determination like the big name QB super stars.

I can't get past the first line because I could not disagree more. Do you think if they ran this offense with a guy like Tim Tebow and he had the same success that he would be less hyped because he's white? I think there was more hype around Baker Mayfield this year until Jackson had some successes on the field, which he did early and often.

I agree on Mayfield being far more hyped. And I wouldn't go so far as to say Lamar is another version of Michael Vick. I think Lamar has potential. But I agree with @Oldschool739 on Harbaugh in the rest of those points. Badly outcoached in that game. Gotta give the Titans some credit though. They found the weaknesses and exploited them just enough.

Yeah, I just went back and read it and see it's about Harbaugh. I originally lost interest after the completely unnecessary statement about the black qbs.
I guess you can put a lot of it on Harbaugh for not being prepared enough as well as just crediting the Titans. Probably their best path to victory was to get up early and ride Henry and they were able to do it. They stopped Jackson twice on 4th down qb sneaks in the first half and half of their passing yards came on a 45 yard td pass to a guy I didn't even know was on the team. So they came up big exactly when they needed to.

He's a talent , but he's gonna have to adjust and stop running so much, it's gonna catch up to him, he's gotta become more of a passer ... The runs will be there sometimes, take um, but being the young QB he is he tends to run way too much even when it's not there... He's fun to watch though, that's for sure...

Totally agree and I think you can say the same thing about DeShaun Watson although he's a better passer. Takes too many risks and hits.

The fatal flaw the Ravens have is Greg Roman is an excellent run game coordinator but poor pass game coordinator and combined with Lamar still developing as a passer it leaves them in a bind when someone shuts down their running on offense.

In the playoffs especially you're almost always going to run into a team that shuts down what you do best and you've got to be able to win in other ways.

Last Sunday's Vikings vs 49ers game perfectly highlights that dynamic. The 9ers completely shutdown the outside zone and play action passing of the Vikings and after that the Vikings had nothing else to go to. The Vikings' defense started out by focusing on stopping the run and Shanahan just dialed up pass plays till they were forced to back off than he ran it down their throats until they stopped it which never happen so he kept running it.

That's what the Raven's offense is going to need to evolve into which being an offense that can tear you up running the ball and if you stop that Lamar can just cut you to shred throwing the ball with surgical precision.

Good point, I didn't like either hire ,him or Wink and although they came up big in the RS, I still don't trust them in big games....I can only hope that LJ makes as big of an improvement next season as he did for this one and we get some help on the Oline, the Titans ran over them and Yanda may retire....

I think Roman did a very good job designing an offense that highlights Lamars strengths.

I agree Roman is great at designing a running based offense but it's fatal flaw right now is when the running game is slowed down like the Titans did this year and the Chargers did last he's not good at designing a passing attack to counter it.

And granted I don't want to put it all on Roman because Lamar himself is still developing as a passer but he was a run game coordinator at Standford and nothing I've seen from him when he was with the 9ers and up until now suggest he's creativity with the run game translates into the passing game.

His pass plays have always basic (in NFL terms) and I just don't think he's gifted in that way like a Shanahan or Payton who can cook up plays passing and running.

I guess my point is there isn't a coincidence that Lamars development also coincided with the fact he throws less to his wide receivers than any qb in the league. So considering the lanes his legs make available to him he's not forced to make a lot of hard throws.

I'm not saying he can't because he has shown in spots he can but that's my take on some of his progression

Good post OS...I agree with a most of it...5...was really a mirage...the run DEF built up some great stats on some putrid OFC efforts and it skewed the total avg. The reality was every talented RB or good running team with a QB1 at the helm went north of 100 yds on them and a few of those were gouges...150+.

That was exposed in this game...unless they sold out with 9 guys it seems, Henry was good for 4+ on every touch in the 3rd and 4th QTR

Harbs, couldn't account for 3 turnovers by his MVP QB...imo Lamar recovered fairly well in catch up mode, but was not equipped to bring the team from behind. Not being able to force TN to settle for 3 at all is why they lost.
