WR development is the issue. That was a noticeable difference this year. Not just losing the I formation. I believe LSU led the nation in drops last year. He turned that group into arguably the best WR corp in the country (Bama is definitely in the mix)
Them dudes caught everything no matter how covered they were. Was impressive

Wow that didn't take long. But can't take away from the season LSU just had
It was expected, just disappointed it went down. When you are trying to be a Bama/Clemson type team you have to find a way to continue to seek out and stockpile great coaches. I was just hoping to have one more year because Aranda’s days are really numbered.

They did have some trouble in the early going last night, but credit Clemson’s db’s and lb’s. They were making plays. The problem for Clemson was you only had one Simmons.

And as I said that, Aranda is a candidate for Baylor.

Any Bama fan will tell you how coaching turnover can hurt a program. It - and every junior imaginable leaving early - has caught up to Bama recently

That is why what both Saban and Dabbo have sustained in present day college football is remarkable.

If you are good at what you do, you will get discovered and paid. If you work for a great HC, people will want to poach those guys and hope some of that success can be used to build a program.

Fuente is interviewing tomorrow for it.
And if he takes it who would VTech likely target? That is the thing, I think Aranda’s name will continue to pop up until this whole cycle is over. Would just like one more season with him, because the guy is going to get a call for a P5 school and eventually take the job.

I have no idea. I'm good with Fuente fucking off but it's kind of late in the process to be head coach shopping. I think LSU knew when they got Aranda that that was going to be a temporary deal though, right? I mean if you spend 2 million on a coordinator you have to be expecting him to take a HC job in the not too distant future. lol

that is kind of weird. I have expected that for awhile, but his name never seems to come up.

When you spend that kind of cash it is basically saying, we know you should be a head coach, but until that perfect job comes between prestige and cash we don’t want you taking an equal job.

UNLV came calling and he listened. He is waiting for a Kirby Smart type ascension. When you make that kind of money it makes you a little less eager to jump ship at the first offer.

i would expect a little better offers than UNLV. At least 1 lower P5 job by now

It is pretty amazing. I trust Saban to right the ship. However, it would be nice if these guys were actually bound to their contracts the way universities are bound to them and how student athletes were - up until recently - bound to their scholarships.

Glad to see students getting more Leigh way to be honest. They should as should coaches. Life changes, people deserve opportunities to better themself. Student athletes are held to a 4 year contract even when the guy who recruited them bails? How in any way was that fair?

Agreed, we did that with Kirby, when your making 2.6 as an assistant, your not leaving to be the head coach at Western Michigan.

Dabo has not dealt with this, he has all of the same coaches and his Juniors return for their senior season.

Its funny how no one goes after his assistants...

It paid off in a natty, hats off to him, the program and the fans for an unbelievable season.

I’d be willing to take a 2 year death penalty if it paid off in a natty beforehand

This will be a good test to see if LSU can sustain the success or if it really was tied to some of the assistants they hired + a generational QB prospect that got dropped in their lap. Would be nice if someone could consistently win in that conference and stop us from getting Alabama in the playoff most years; same goes for the ACC and Clemson. But I also wouldn't be shocked if LSU didn't quickly (within a few years) drop back down to average; like Auburn with Newton.

I thought That Brady called 3rd down plays.....not that LSU ever got there this year

Oh but they did against us.

“Third and Golding” has replaced “Third and Chavis” as the call for giving up huge plays when needing most to get off the field.
