Larry was NEVER going to admit that the on-field pens were a result of a bone-headed oversight. He had to stay with the cover story that it was a personality feature of the park. He dug himself in too deep to ever be able to be the one to fix it.

Some family members of mine have season tickets a few rows up from the visitor’s bullpen mound down the first base line. I’ll never forget when I was younger I went to see the Giants play the Braves and a slightly husky Mike Remlinger was warming up. Fans were being assholes and making fun of his weight. After about five minutes of fat jokes, a fan goes “Hey Mike, where’s your ab roller?”. Mike totally lost his shit. He B-lined to the padded wall separating the field from the stands and replied “why don’t you go ask your fucking mom!”. Mike got red. The crowd started laughing and doubled down on the jokes. I’m gonna miss those days...

i'm fine with the old dimensions, but won't miss cringing whenever a foul ball lead a player to the warm up mound. surprised the players union hadn't forced this issue earlier

Myself, I wasn't surprised by the pens on the field, I remember them that way at the 'stick (maybe you're just too young).

I did read the article. It was bs. It said the Giants said it was planned, therefore, it must have been planned.

And I am not too young to remember the ‘Stick. I think sfgrtb is the only reg here who qualifies for that honor.
