Did Notre Dame get screwed in the bowl selection?

In a single game setting with nothing to lose, sure, upsets happen. In a week in and week out grind, we've seen what Utah is/was.

Boise had a great run. Your fans should all be proud.

Seems like Utah is doing okay.

in a given year a smaller school can also compete for the national championship. smaller schools like boise st that are shut out hurts their recruiting and causes their coaches to go to take jobs at bigger schools. otherwise they might be able to compete with p5 schools on a consistent basis.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter what Notre Dame does or doesn't do, if you aren't a fan of ND you'll hate them... pretty much always :lol:

I'm excited for that game, anything beats playing lousy ACC opponents or MAC opponents. Love the Big 10 matchups.

what really needs to happen is a legit playoff being adopted.

I don't hate the Irish.

fyi: This is a good test for Iowa State. Part of me would rather have them play an easier team for a win, but a victory over ND could catapult Iowa State into what I anticipate to be a really good strong year in contention for the Big Xii Championship in 2020. So, I hope ISU is up for the challenge!

Yep, I am aware. However, I'm sure that the Orange, ACC and ND could have negotiated something that would work out well for all 3 sides.

I actually don't mind this matchup as much as others, I mean sure a 10-2 ND team it would have been nice to play in a bigger bowl game but its the 1st matchup between Iowa State and Notre Dame so that's always fun.

I don't believe that for a moment. The ACC would never give up their premier bowl game for even a year. Not even
when their champ was in the playoffs. That's too much money to give away.

That could be negotiated. Like I suggested, ND could get the marquee game in the Orange vs. Florida, Virginia would get a shooter's chance game in the CWB vs. Iowa State, but ND would still get the CWB money, and UVA (ACC) would still get the Orange Bowl money. Win, win, win, win.

Prestige is also involved. Last Year, with the Orange Bowl used as a semi-final, only Clemson was in an elite 6
game. The league cannot afford to be off of TV during all those games, but one.

they also don't have to share income from their tv contract or ticket sales.
