With Matthews in there and the threat of Fowler, AD is beginning to find his rhythm in the now consistent double and triple teams he has faced all year. I think with the play of Ramsey and Hill as well as Rapp and Weddle, our D can frustrate a guy like Jackson. The key will be containment and that will be at the feet of the inside LBs Reeder and Littleton. I think we will do a pretty good job as our O will go back to the run just to keep the ball out of the hands of the Baltimore O.

There is an interesting and encouraging article on Ramswire about our D through the eyes of PFF. Acording to said article, our D is playing demonstrably better since Ramsey arrived. We are number one in defending against the run since Week 7 when Ramsey arrived. We also have two corners not named Ramsey that are in the top five overall rated by PFF. Those two being Troy Hill and Robey-Coleman. In pass coverage during the specified time frame, Hill has been rated ninth and R-C rated third. That speaks volumes to our coaching and why the Rams rid themselves of Peters and Talib. The article failed to mention the reason for our number one rating against the run. I believe it has to do largely with the front seven. Everyone is playing way better and Greg Gaines has been quietly playing periods of play to spell Joseph-Day. Reeder and Littleton are really playing well and so is Matthews since his return, and Fowler is coming on nicely. I like the trending here and I believe the O will follow.

That is why I laughed at people talking about the Rams gave up too much for Ramsey, Ramsey helps you more ways the one. He is the best cover corner in the game, he not only helps take out good wrs but also helps the pass rush by forcing opposing qbs hold on to the ball longer to make more reads.

We should all cool our jets a bit on our defense IMO.

Let's face it, the QB's we faced in the last 4 games, don't exactly strike fear in the heart and minds of the DC's across the League, now do they...
I'm just glad we get a middle of the road defense to face again ourselves.

That Pit and Bears defense gave our O fits!

At the same time, they are also gaining more experience playing together.

When we play the Ravens that will put the defense to the test, good article Retro but did face some trash ass teams that we were expected to beat. I'll put the skeptics aside if we can stop Lamar, otherwise if we can't then yeah this defense plays well against avg/below avg competition which doesn't say much. But the addition of Ramsey has improved the secondary a bit.

Now i'm curious as to how the lineup will look next season with JJ back.

My guess is Fowler and Brockers are gone. Weddle? Not sure

Big question is how is OLB Jachai Polite progressing. Once thought to be a 1st rounder last year dropped to the 3rd round and we picked him up after 2 teams cut him this fall. If he’s coming along nicely then we need to address Dline and another ILB, maybe a safety later.

Weddle has to go. He has been late to the play/out of position too many times this season. Love his leadership, but it isn't enough unless he agrees to be a cheap backup.

I have to agree. With JJ back and Rapp, look for another safety via the draft. But my guess is they keep Weddle another year unless he calls it quits.

if he wants to play then designate him to a backup role at this point, JJ and Rapp should be the starters. Besides the bone headed decision in coverage Rapp has been pretty good. But Weddle has been slipping as of late and despite his leadership should be backing up now.

Hope that Kiser will be ready next year and ready to step it up. That’d help a lot. Also switching to a 4-3.
