I was standing in the spot where the bomb went off about 12 hours before the blast. Wife and I drove home that day from the Olympics and when I got home all kinds of shit on answering machine wanting to know if we were alright.

I was perplexed as we did not listen to any live news on the ride home.

Saw the trailer as we were watching another movie. It's about time he got his due. What happened to him was horrible but it wasn't just the media. The FBI made him the prime suspect and lied to him in an attempt to get him to waive his rights. This lead to the unfair media frenzy that ruined his life.

Right wing movies tend to be successful due to word of mouth and viewing events. They don’t typically have large marketing budgets.

I can see this movie getting a light-ish release, but having HUGE per-screen numbers

But that abortion movie got pulled. Just seems weird politically that Hollywood would allow this movie. In general it doesn’t seem political but with the fake news thing going on it just seems odd they would finance a movie that is about how the “fake news media” tried destroying a man.

I agree, but they can’t “allow it” or “disallow it”. There has been a number of successful low-budget right-ring movies over the last few years, so there will be apolitical or right-leaning investors who will get these projects done. Add the fact that that this project has been kicked around over the years and has had big names attached at different times and still has Eastwood at the helm makes me not so shocked it was made.

it won’t be a huge success. Hollywood and the media won’t “allow” that. It will certainly be ignored come Oscar time. But it will make money, and certain media types will continually talk about it in positive terms (Hannity in particular since he was pretty loud about the situation at the time, pro-Jewell)

Ya, but their isn’t exactly FBI agents running saying they are scared for their lives.

I am curious to see this movie just to see if they do go hardcore of the distrust of the media it caused let alone the panic the media can cause by trying to be the first to break a story instead of actually using journalism.

From what I remember the media moved on him after the FBI fed them the info. Oh my bad, there was a "leak" :wink:

I also remember Janet Reno apologizing to him specifically although I don't recall what the exact nature of her apology was. But it seems odd to me to apologize for just doing your job properly.
