I don't think the HC needs to be the QB whisperer unless you talk Andy Reid to come here and we all know that isn't happening. I strong OC would work with a HC who holds the players and his coaches accountable. I think that is what we see from Callahan. I think Gruden's biggest issue is the players did not believe him when he tried to hold them accountable.

Im not saying Callahan should just be handed the job. I am saying they should see how the team, and the QB progress over these last few games. And if we see a positive track, he should at minimum be considered. I know its nice to say (NEW GUY) brings hope, but after what 20 years of musical QB and new coaches, Im not sold that the sexy college coach is the answer for this team. And feeding the young QB into a new system might not be the best thing for him either.

Shark ma man. Short of running Bruce Allen off the east coast never to return and Daniel Snyder being abducted by aliens. I'm not sure anything or anyone can reverse this monumental clusterfuck of a puzzle factory that is the Washington Redskins.

Fuck Andy. IMO he's a coach who would rather lose 38-35 than win 10-9.

Like I said, iM not wedded to Callahan. But the team has been committing less penalties. We do seem more committed to the run, and we are doing less of the types of hre kill my QB kinds of plays. All things I like, and I dont think the next new thing will have those priorities.

So see where the team is at the end of the season, hope Bruce Allen picture shows up in Eipstiens safe and roll from there.

To answer the question relating to "who" should they bring in as HC, and why that person??

I'm assuming Bruce Allen is settling in at the new job somewhere near northern Mongolia and (my choice) Louis Riddick has full control of the franchise. If so then the head coaching choice is obvious and it's this guy...

Urban Meyer
Now for those still wondering why, check this out.

1. Familiarity...Haskins with him and he with Haskins. TMac with him and he with TMac.

2. He's a winner although not at the NFL level, he runs an NFL style offense. Does it translate to the NFL:noidea:. (My guess is YES!)

3. He has a track record of not only instituting a solid program but going to once prominent football teams and
rebuilding them to greatness.

4. He's not a good talent evaluator, he's a great talent evaluator and so is Riddick! Working together, the turn-a-round happens quickly and is foundationally sustainable for years to come!

5. He's a great coach and leader of men, his players are always fundamentally sound and well prepared for the task in front of them.

6. Because Jerrah wants him and if this team gets him and he's the winner that I believe him to be, then we get to watch as Jerrah, attempts to shove his head up his own ass after going from beet red to full blown green with envy!

That's my top six, now the one thing that bothers me about him is his health!

1. He is a career college college coach. Not sure why you think he runs an NFL style offense.

2. Best and primarily only successful NFL QB - Alex Smith

3. Larry Johnson Sr. is a great talent evaluator - Bosa's, Young etc.

4. Don't see him being a "yes" man for Snyder

5. His teams are well prepared and he fits the HC mold but I think more so in college.

PS: Larry Johnson a well known southern MDer. :D

Yeah, that's my chief concern about him, however, when asked earlier about the NFL he stated that he would take the Dallas job if offered. that said, if there were health concerns, he might not have considered them before responding to the query or felt confident that he was fit enough.

LOL …. no I liked him just fine at Utah and Florida. He is a great college coach.

There is no arguing about Larry Johnson Sr., he did the same at Penn State for a very long time.

I would not call Haskins a bust or the future yet. He is the third best QB on the team NOW. I think it is good that he is playing now. I don't expect the FO will draft a QB in the upcoming draft. I feel he will have two to four years to gain experience and show if he can improve as many think.

After Haskins career is over and he's completely washed up will you dump him off on the Eagles?

I think it's fair to say that Haskins has stunk thus far. It is what it is. It doesn't mean that he can't get better, but if he were on another team playing like this, let's say the Giants, Eagles, or Cowboys for example, we would.all be saying "that dude is trash."

This was a Dan Snyder pick. I don't feel bad about second guessing it. I did at the time. I sincerely hope he gets better. I also hope he doesn't hinder us in our coaching search.

We've been down this road before. Jay was brought in here to "fix" RG3. I have a feeling the next guy will be brought in here to "fix" Haskins. Dan is gonna want to go out and find a coach that is going to "make him right," on the decision, the way he wanted to be right on RG3.

We spent years trying to make Dan "right." The only thing is this time we don't have a Kirk Cousins on the roster to save our skin, win a division and lead us to a home playoff game.

This is why imo QB should definitely not be taken off the board unless we see major progression from the guy that claimed that "the league done messed up."

At a minimum he was over drafted. I know if he starts balling, the trolls will line up to hit me with all kinds of "I told you so's," and I'll be fine with that. That means he's playing well and the Skins are winning, which is all I really want.

Let's be clear on one thing though. Right now, Haskins stinks.

Any grand pronouncements now are simply premature . The case he was over drafted can be fairly made however I doubt any other rookie we could have drafted would have done better here

my beef In all of this is he was handled improperly . We should have gotten him ready from day one giving him every snap possible . Anyone want to make the argument RG3 was pro ready when we drafted him? He looked less a pro QB the Haskins has . Yet he got all the major 1st team reps and the shanny ‘s. Designed an offense for him to compete with.

now when we started out 0-5 and Gruden was fired exactly what was the mantra on this board in regards to Haskins and our young players should get reps to see what we have .

Haskins was to learn , make mistakes and hopefully grows . Well that’s what’s happening. To say he stinks doesn’t give me a warm and fuzzy that you all believed what you were saying .

for the record he has improved and what we coulda ,shoulda ,woulda if he was on another team means little . We wouldn’t know enough about him to make a sane assessment so of course we would run our mouths

he needs the rest of this season and a good off season of work and a TC. Where we get him ready to play and be our guy .

if he fails to show he has an inkling of a future , then and only then should we look at another option

For now let the guy learn and grow and understand he has led us to a come from behind win and when we needed good an play late he has stood up and responded positively
