Kiffin will do a fine job, it not like Arky can play any worse. I doubt he’ll take them to the playoffs, but a winning record would be a bonus
Screw the playoffs! Win your non-conference games, split the Mississippi schools and beat Mizzou and we’ll have 75,000 at every game and pay you $5 million a year!

we just wanna get laid, not marry Ms America!!

I like it! Coaches can grow. He was a fantastic OC at Alabama and done well as a HC at FAU. Just like Saban is not the same coach at Alabama as he was at Michigan State or LSU, Kiffin will not be the same coach at Arkansas that he was at Tennessee or USC. I think Arkansas is making a splash hire. Let me be the first to say: "Wooh Pig!"

I don't think the issue with him is whether or not he's a good coach.

At least not from a UT fan's perspective.

Whether or not he's still fickle is the question they'd ask.

'Cos if that U of M job opens up...

Hey Arky fans,

Any legitimacy to you guys looking at Fuente?

Some people on the VT sites seem to think so but everything I can find looks like pure speculation. Speculation as in some fans think hiring him and Barry Odom (his DC at Memphis) would be good, not speculation from actual insiders
I believe there is interest there from our side, esp if Odom comes with him. I doubt there’s any interest on his side.

supposedly BOT approved $6 mill a year if necessary to move a “current, winning P5 coach. Could be your guy?!?

We haven’t had a coach leave us for a better job in a LONG time. Personally, I’d be fine with that. Has us in a better position to hire from next time.

Here is the thing with Kiffin.

He's a very good offensive coordinator and he has the potential to be a good HC, imo.

I think that what happened with the Raiders, Tennessee (to an extent) and USC is that he moved into those positions before he had the maturity to handle them.

He actually started off well at USC. He was a big reason why we were able to get through the sanctions without having so much as a losing record, let alone several 4-8, 5-7 seasons that many were predicting.

He got a little full of himself, made an enemy of the wrong media member over something petty and stupid, and that was the beginning of the end.

Hopefully, he has learned some humility and gained some maturity. If he has, he could be good for your program.

I don’t want to defend Kiffin but he essentially had the hardest start to a coaching career in history. Coaching under Al Davis, going to Tennessee where the fans and alumni were still pretending they were relevant then USC with the sanctions. Not saying he was a good coach or anything but I mean it’s kind of stuff to tell whether he was HC material.

Mother-fucker.

How does one get 18 chances to be a paid over a million a year while not doing shit?

I work my ass off to make a salary just above those that graduate from Iowa, but come the fuck on...

He's a very good coach. I've always said that if I were ever the coach of a college football team, he'd be my first call for the OC position.

I agree re: a rough start to his head coaching career. I actually had never looked at it that way.

Davis always basically wanted a puppet as head coach, so he and Kiffin were destined to part ways just like he and Gruden were. Say what you want about Kiffin, but he's not a puppet. lol

He really got a bad rap in Tennessee. He told their AD that the only job he'd leave for was USC and that was the job he left for. Pete Carroll was still at USC. How was he to know that Pete would be gone and USC would come calling after 1 season?

But, the Tennessee students having a fucking riot over him leaving, somehow made him the bad guy.

USC was on him and his lack of maturity. Everything was going good. He came in with a great plan to not only get USC through the sanctions, but do it while still remaining at the top of cfb and it looked like it was working, there was talk that USC could win a National Championship while on probation and everyone loved him.

Then he tried to ban longtime USC reporter Scott Wolf over something stupid and petty, USC didn't allow it and the media turned on him. That was the beginning of the end for him at USC.

Sure, but it didn’t help he lost to the worst Mike Leach led Cougars team even though we didn’t score an offensive touchdown.

This is the absolute truth at this point. If you can make it to 9-3, we'll raise a statue for you.

You can probably rule Fuente and Odom out. Supposedly we're announcing Barry Odom as Bud Foster's replacement tomorrow.

No......best-guess (and it's just a guess) is that we are waiting on Kiffen to make his decision/possible announcement after his conference championship game on Saturday. Supposedly, they have plan B and plan C preparations if he says no. That being said, HY has kept a really tight lid on this thing, same as he did when he hired Musselman last year. The hire could come out of left field

Could be. It's not done yet though. It seems to be based on the fact that Odom started following all of our current staff on social media, lol.

Ole Miss seems to have become a factor with Kiffin as well.

Ready for all this to be over with lol.
