No way... It's more important for us to secure our division... The more room we have to secure the division, the better... Our schedule isn't easy the rest of the way... Need them to lose as often as possible... For example, 49ers win this week and we lose... We're only 2 up on the Rams and 1 behind the 49ers... Rather the Niners lose as much as possible...

I can not root for the 49ers to win. I'll be rooting hard for the Saints.

I could root for the Saints if a Saints loss was more important, at this stage, than a Niners loss.

But winning the division is FAR MORE important that being the #1 or #2 seed. If we could guarantee ourselves only the #2 seed I would take that right now.

I also agree that staying ahead of SF is the most important thing right now. A #1 seed is great, but #2 seed is pretty nice too. And at bare minimum you want to win the division to at least get one game at home. So ya, I won't be cheering for the Niners. A Saints win and a Rams loss would give the Hawks a little cushion going into their last 3 games. And then if we're lucky the Saints drop a game somewhere else.

Whatever happens it will be a fun 4 weeks of football.

If we go into the week 17 game against the niners with a one game advantage, we would likely still win the division because of tiebreakers. The first tie breaker is head-to-head, which is a wash, the second tiebreaker is divisional record which should be a tie (but our Rams game is SUPER important to win), and then the third tiebreaker would be strength of victory, which we should have the niners beat on if they lose to the saints.

Would be nice to have the division wrapped up before week 17! Plus the Saints @ Titans seems like a perfect game for them to lose.

The reality of this game is that it's a win-win regardless of the outcome just as long as we do our job Sunday night.

That being said, I feel that the Saints losing is the greater of the two in terms of benefit to the Hawks. Seattle can afford to lose one more game, and still be in charge of their own destiny within the division. This isn't the case with the Saints because that matchup has been made between the two that went in the favor of the Saints. This is the hardest game remaining on the Saints schedule, and one that could thrust us into the #1 seed with HFA; we all know the benefit of HFA for the Hawks in particular. Being that Seattle holds the cards in the division regardless of this outcome it's the Saints losing hands down. Give us HFA and the rest is history; don't talk about our road record this year cause that's a horrible argument.

I'd rather have the Niners lose which gives us some room if the Hawks win or we're still tied if they lose in LA. Saints still have Colts, Titans/Panthers both on b2b road games. Still could get 2 loses out of the final 3 games and if Seattle takes care of business still has a shot for HFA.

Win win regardless but the Saint have The Colts, @Titans and @Panthers after the 49ers so ..... i can't see them losing any of those games. Imagine if Seattle would have JUST DID THEIR JOB AT HOME against the Saints.

I would Rather the Saints win though as we need breathing room against the 49ers.

Um, why is that a horrible argument?

Saying that we are better off on the road because we are undefeated in the regular season on the road makes zero sense. If we are playing revisionist history I would say every time Seattle has HFA in the playoffs they go to the Super Bowl, so let's not root for the road is what I say.

I think we would all prefer to have home field advantage for our playoff games. Who wouldn't? I just thought it was an odd thing to say "don't talk about our road record this year because that's a horrible argument". I mean if we had a real shitty road record I'd agree with you that going on the road is the worst thing that could happen, but the one thing about this team that has been super impressive is their road record is perfect so I actually think it's a good argument not a horrible one. They've proven they can go on the road and the style of play they use travels well. I think we are actually the one team that most other teams wouldn't want to see in their stadium and the reason for that is 100% due to our current unbeaten road record. Best in the league by the way. That being said, I still really want HFA and a #1 or #2 seed. Playing at home is way better than the road obviously, but in the Hawks case at least we know if they must go on the road it isn't necessarily a death sentence for their playoff hopes.

What's that old adage? Win your division first. I guess that's how we have to look at it. The Niners beating up GB makes it likely the winner of the NFCW gets at least a 2 seed and a bye. For now, that is as good as one can hope for. If things pan out better, than great but it's not crucial. Our guys have the right mental makeup right now. New week, new game, go out trying to win this week. Just do their job and things will fall into place. And I'm as guilty as any at looking at projections but there isn't really an easy game left. Ideally, win out but need at least 3 of 4 and win vs the 9ers week 17. I had hopes for a 12-4 season at the beginning of the year. Now we are looking even better. I'm a pretty happy guy right now but home for the play-offs would be so much nicer than a 13-3 or 12-4 WC road trip. So the division is absolutely crucial right now.

Hawks have to go out and punch the Rams in the face this weekend. They need to throw this monkey off their backs and thump the Rams. Beat the Rams then you got a tough one on the road again against the Panthers. If they can finish the Season undefeated on the road then i think they have a great shot to have at least a first round bye. #1, #2 i don't care as long as the Hawks get a Bye. Would love to Face the Saints in their house for the NFC Championship and bloody their nose. We owe them one big time.

I don't disagree with you in that our road record allows for confidence should that be our path, but my point is that to overlook HFA because we've been solid on the road makes no sense to me. Yes, the division is the first and most important but regardless of the outcome in this game the division is still in our control. So why not focus on the one thing this specific game has in our favor which is getting positioned for the #1 seed? I guess we can agree to disagree, but for me it's go Niners.......we'll deal with you later.

Not that I want to overlook any opponent, but the Panthers are in transition after firing Rivera.

That's a game I'm really not worried about.

We have to be careful with this whole pulling for the 49ers we have a tough divisional match up in Los Angeles against the rams who are looking to win. If the 49ers win and the hawks lose then we are right back to second place

I agree about the Rams. That fucking team has been like King Kong on their backs. We got fucking lucky earlier this year but we need to beat those guys and do it handily. Enough of this last possession shit. As sweet as the thought of possibly winning the division would be, the thought of beating the shit out of the Rams and demoralizing them is just as sweet. They've been a thorn in the side of the Hawks for too long.
