No good reason? How about arguably the 5th best football team in the world outside the NFL has no shot to win a CFB title? Never mind you don't know if the 5th best team is better than any of those above them.

But if it stays at 4, so be it. We are better off than where we were before the CFP.

What about the 9th? It's already difficult picking 4, look at this year. Could a huge upset happen? Sure, but a very small possibility. Trying to fit in teams that lose 2 games isn't the way to go. It just gives the undeserving teams that lose meaningful, regular season games a backsplash. "We can lose 2 games and still get in...yesss!"

Right. I'd rather fix the things that are bad than expand on a bad system first. Fix the scheduling and see If 4 is still as bad in your mind. Hell, you want more football and im giving you 13 game seasons. That's more for everyone. And gets rid of the ccg bs.

I'd have no problem with fixing the scheduling issues first. I mean shit, at the very least, everyone should be playing the same number of conference games.

I seriously doubt that would change my opinion on expanding to 8 teams and having autobids though. I will never think that leaving a conference champion out of a playoff is okay.

Picking teams is the problem. That said, even with a four team playoff, limiting the number of acceptable losses discourages stronger scheduling.

A conference championship is a relatively new concept. If there is a split championship, take the highest rated team

In those days most conferences had 10 teams....and you played 8 or 9 of them. There is a reason we went to conference championship games. Taking the highest rated teams with no championship game is just more subjective bullshit.

An 8 team playoff has to happen. Cap it at 8 but they have to have an 8 team playoff in college football.

Making shit up while crying about making shit up....again.

me - "I could understand if the committee chose Baylor or TCU"

If you need help understanding what that means, just ask. No charge. But it's not crying.
So you are the only one who is allowed to lie, tell people when they are crying, and make shit up?

Winning your conference should mean something. If doing away with the conference championship is what it takes for that to happen then I'm all for it.

As it stand now however, this weekend's games mean almost nothing.

It means you won your conference. If you consider that “meaningless”, maybe your team should consider switching to a different conference.

And the blanket assumptions from people who want autobids isn't?
Never said otherwise. But I realize it's opinion. You present your opinions as though they are facts.

My opinion is if they go to 8 with top 4 hosting round 1 OOC will improve as teams will know they are in if they win their conference...and because they want a home first round game they will go all out in these games.

The point is we were told the same things at 2, now 4, and it will surely continue. If you don't think some want more you haven't been on the hoop long. We have people that want 16 and 32. I think a couple want 12 with first round byes. This isn't about just you.
will some want more? Sure, but pretty sure they'll be good with 8 and most will think 8 is fine (as seems to be the case here).

seemed most discussions I was in the majority also wanted 8 from the beginning. They didn't want 4 and now want 8.

Up until the jump to 12 teams really.

Again, going away from balanced schedules was were things started going bad IMO. It had nothing to do with the playoffs. Everyone wanted that extra game (ccg) that came only if you had at least 12. There were teams penalized for not having that extra game. Hell, it still does which is why the big 12 added one now that 12 is no longer required. It's always a rematch game, but they need it for playoff status.

Get rid of ccg by going back to balance schedules. It fixes a lot if problems.
Agree, asked if you were thinking about 70s and early 80s as if you don't remember you'd be shocked if you looked at past schedules (though sounds like you are old enough to remember). Many teams would play 2-3 OOC games against tough teams every year. Good times as far as that goes.

Yeah, they've stepped up some.It seems that strength of schedule has started to become a little more important to the committee, so it's probably a reaction to that.

I'm not sure why believing that expansion is coming would be a reason for Bama to start scheduling tougher now.
Because they would know they could drop one and still get into the CFP. But you are right, it could be they just wanted some better opponents or fans/alumni wanted home/homes

I can live with or without the CCGs but agree uniform scheduling would be great. Don't care if it gets done before or after we go to 8....or even if we never go to 8.

I saw most wanting 4. I see now most wanting to keep 4. It works.
Not what I recall from back in the AOL or CBS forum days. Seemed the majority wanted 8...but, yeah, all those wanting 8 would have gladly taken 4 over what we had.

I mean, I guess I understand saying it means "nothing" when it comes to getting in the CFP as that could be the case for 2-3 teams.

But Meyer and now Day have both said our first goal is win the BIG and I would bet most top teams have the same mindset.

Like I just did if you have examples, point them out....but don't lie or make it up when you are talking about lying or making shit up.

And it's my opinion that is stupid. I think we've covered all of this.
