Memphis at 17 is now the G5 Frontrunner for the Cotton Bowl.

Why is the committee ignoring OSU's strength of schedule? I'm told Vandy's was better. OSU should be ranked 15th.

How many believe this is what happens?

CFP Selection Committee Voting Process

When circumstances at the margins indicate that teams are comparable, then the following criteria must be considered:

  • Championships won
  • Strength of schedule
  • Head‐to‐head competition (if it occurred)
  • Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory)

Really are gonna be a couple tough choices should favorites win that could go either way. LSU/OSU for #1 and Utah/Oklahoma for #4. compelling arguments could be made for either in each situation.

Guessing how it's set up they'd keep OSU at 1 as since they put them back at 1 they would have beaten #14 on road and #1 while LSU would have beaten unranked at home and #4. But if they are currently barely apart they could justfiy LSU jumping OSU.

OU/Utah really seems like a crapshoot.

The computers strongly favor OSU as to the other I feel Utah has the edge

I not only don't believe it, I believe that ignoring margin of victory is idiotic.

Utah and Oregon both have good defenses. I think it will be a low scoring affair, assuming Utah wins I am not sure a close win would do it. It still feels like Oklahoma is primed to jump them after championship week.

A Baylor win would be nice, remove a lot of my concerns.

All this assumes Utah wins, I am hopeful, but I dont think it is a sure thing. Oregon has a very good defense.

So what do these rankings tell us? Are the top two locks no matter what? Does Utah control its destiny vs the Big 12 teams?
