I have to say
Gruden & Mayock has surprised me this year.
The draft picks looks excellent & the team plays hard for Gruden.
I thought these two would be a laughing stock after this year. Especially during the time of AB clownfest
but they exceed anything I thought this team would do this year.

They've done exceptionally well imo after AB and trading Mack. Everyone left them for dead and look how they are doing now

Mayock was an interesting hire. I just remember him as that annoying announcer that would tell you every players time in the 40 and how they did at the combine.
On second thought, maybe GM is the perfect job for him. When does Mel Kiper Jr. get offered a job?

Valid point. I just think most people based their opinion of Gruden on his announcing. I bet half these fuckers don’t even remember Gruden’s coaching pedigree.

Yeah, he won a single Superbowl, which puts him into such an Elite Coaching Fraternity that includes Weeb Ewbank, Don McCafferty, and Gary Kubiak

Definitely a top candidate as of right now. He has the Raiders playing well and in the play-off hunt despite the distractions. I don't know that I would say hands down though. Shanahan has taken a 2nd to last team overall to the best record in the league (as of now, of course). He will get a lot of credit.

Up there, but not really close imo...We still have to see how the finish obviously, but Shanny will walk backwards to pick up COY if the season ended now. After him I would think Sean Payton going 5-0 with his backup in next in line.

That said...Chucky getting the Raider to 6-4 at this point in the season has been impressive but not COY impressive...the Colt win is probably their signature win. On the road, team with a winning record.

He is not trying to satisfy the Oakland fan base. He has made some hard changes for draft picks in order to be ready to win with a young team when they start in Vegas.

Plus, his Superbowl win was over his old team from the season prior that didn't even bother to change all of the play calls.

Yeah, I was thinking of Payton too but the guy is such a collossal douche, I hope he never wins. He definitely deserves credit for this season though despite the slip up to Atlanta.

Great HC, but I lost a lot of respect for Payton after the whole blown call situation...he acted like a fucking 13 yr that lost his phone privileges for a week.

What makes him a douche? Not questioning your assessment, I'm unaware of any issues.

Just the way he comes across to me. Real arrogant and thinks he can do no wrong. The blown PI call last year was a good example. Went on and on about without admitting once that they never should have been in that position. His playcalling and clock management was awful in that situation. He often keeps running up scores when it's already a blowout. Just the whole package

He pissed a fit about a legit bad (missed PI) call vs the Rams LY or year before I forget which now...imo he spearhead the Saints fans unrest over it....the whole lawsuit BS...they played the Steelers week 16 or 17 and they got a terrible PI call in the endzone that won the game for them. Not a word out of him.

A bunch of other dumb shit you wouldn't expect from an NFL HC making millions of dollars...like giving the choke signal to players on the field...had a part in bountygate, good HC, but not a likeable personality if you're not a Saints fan.

Raiders might just be feeling better about their future than the Bears, add in having the Bears 1st this year too.

Kubiak is the greatest Houston Texans coach of all time! And don't you forget it.

In all fairness, the Raiders are improving, something is slowly brewing...

Got no dog in the fight but if that was my team that got screwed, and that call was a huge reason they lost a trip to the Super Bowl, I wouldn't want my coach just shut up and take it. He had every right to complain, worst call when the ramifications are considered that I've ever seen.

But a call in week 16 is not the same as a call that cost a trip to the Super Bowl. Can you think of one example of a coach standing up and saying "yeah that bad all in the end zone really helped us out"? Yeah me neither.

Agreed....might have to grade on a curve being a Falcon fan and all.

If I were a Saints fan, I'd never forget an outrageous non call that kept us from the SB and would hope my coach wouldn't either.
