CBS Sports:

CBS Sports said:
The NFL has also talked internally about playing games in other cities in the U.S. which do not have pro teams, with some buzz about playing a game at Notre Dame or Alabama, as well as Hawaii and cities in Canada. It is viewed as a unique and profound way to grow the game globally and extend the reach of sales, merchandising and broadcast rights around the globe, with there only so much more room for growth within America.

It would be less impressive with a half full stadium.

I was reading about this earlier. I'm honestly uncertain how receptive fans in Alabama would be to this. Tbh, most just don't give a shit about the NFL. They probably could sell tickets to a 1 and done, though. :noidea:

For Alabama, if they had a game like Dallas/NO/Tennessee vs. Atlanta I could see it doing well.

For Notre Dame, maybe Chicago vs. Indianapolis?

ND for sure.

Bama. I'd say Dallas vs New Orleans. I'd bring a Primetime crew with it

Alabama is pretty easy driving distance for fans of the Tennessee Titans & the Atlanta Falcons. There are also a lot of Alabama fans in both of those states who would probably enjoy watching Bama play on Saturday & catching their team in action the next day.

Are you nuts? They would sell out day one. I'm never going to another NFL game but they could do it every year and it would be an easy sell out no matter who played in the game.

The main issue is the only places they could do it now are on campus at Auburn or Alabama and since it's during the season, I'm not sure either school would go for it from a field condition standpoint and you can forget painting the fields. If they want to play with college logos on the 50 and SEC on the 30 (or wherever they paint it) fine but they won't.

I thought the big team in Bama was the Falcons...no?

The Falcons may have an edge within Alabama, but out of the pro cities near Alabama, there are a heck of a lot of Alabama fans living in the Nashville area, and the Titans have a lot of fans that would probably travel to Tuscaloosa to watch two games in two days.

Good call. But the pros also play regular season games in late December after the college regular season is finished. They might go for it then.

I would've say more Titan fans these days and back in 80's the Saints were picking up folks.

Me I could do the Saints but can't stand ATL or the Titian.

No way I see this as anything other than pre-season. The season ticket holders and sponsors that have boxes would riot.

If the schools make money, they will make it happen. In fact, the extra income could offset the loss of an extra home game. Plus, if they played on a Sunday right after a Bama road game, the field would be no issue.

hey did it at Illinois when the Bears had to plat a season there. The NFL picks up the cost of painting the field and restoring it.

Do they even sell beer at Notre Dame stadium? If not, would the NFL really give up beers sales for a game? What about luxury boxes? Pretty sure they don't have a ton of those either.

Idk. Folks here really have a hard time caring about anything that isn't CFB. Alabama is hell on pro sports. Shit! We've got a heavyweight champion here and many don't seem to realize it.

Interesting choices, I have seen both rivalries in person. Personally, I'd rather see Packers-Bears @ Alabama than a Saints-Falcons snooze-fest.
