Kind of curious to see what " changes the coaching staff has been working on" per Coach Pete's comments on Monday at his weekly presser.

I know you can't change things in a week, but it would be interesting to see them come out in different formations and the routes some of these receivers are running...

I mean if you're going to tinker with the offense why not try it against a lower team.

I'd be surprised if that's the case personally. The formations, routes, etc. are pretty similar to what we've been running since Chris Petersen took over, but obviously it's hard to tell with the camera angles we see.

Maybe it's just the football nerd in me but I really wish there was a way to watch the games with a camera angle that shows all 22 players on the field.

Mid 50 and cameras up high and I would be in hog heaven all day watching games like that.

I like the view that has the camera behind the QB high enough that you can see all of the players on the field during the play, similar to the camera angle you see in Madden games.

There was a Patriots game or something that used that angle for a game where it was snowing really heavily and I was in heaven.

So what now guys? I'm really flummoxed by this season. I think it's clear at this point that Hamden needs to be replaced and I will begin to have a serious lack of faith in Petersen if Hamden is not replaced and/or if his replacement is another lackluster hire.

If it were up to me, if Clay Helton gets fired at USC and his replacement brings in an entirely new group of coaches, I would push very, very hard to land Graham Harrell as offensive coordinator. Not sure who else is available, but Harrell has play calling experience and USC's offense has been pretty effective this year.

On defense, a number of the struggles can be attributed to youth and all of the players we lost but I'm wondering if Jimmy Lake should remain the defensive coordinator. I don't know who is officially calling the plays, but if it's Lake perhaps we need to go back to Pete K running the defense with Lake focusing on the DBs.

Yeah, there are quite a few people trying to pin this on Eason, but the common denominator for the continued lackluster offense is Petersen's OC's. Smith was bland/average at best and Hamden has been worse. If he doesn't do something this offseason I will lose my faith in his ability to lead as HC. The buck stops with him.

Another thing I was surprised by was how poorly the offensive line played. This is an experienced, talented group and they got absolutely dominated. I think the Huskies run a zone blocking scheme and when that happens I have to assume there is some issue with the coaching of the offensive line. Maybe @mcnabb7542 has some insights on how such a talented group played so poorly against vastly inferior competition. Doesn't make sense to me.

Also am I the only one who feels like on both sides of the ball there is a lack of spark? A lack of passion? The team I watched last night looked like the equivalent of a disinterested employee who shows up to work and just goes through the motions to collect a paycheck without putting in any extra effort or passion.

Yes, it does look like this team has cashed it in. Im sure the players and coaches wouldn't agree, but it looks like it.

And it 100% is on the staff when your line is getting owned and you seemingly make no adjustments to counter it. Again.

I believe Colorado schemes against the offense was fantastic! Being a defensive coach you want to cause chaos for the opposing offense and they did. They targeted the zone run game of the Dawgs and just spaced themselves perfectly that linebackers were scrapping into the gaps and made clean tackles! As for the pass rush they pinned their ears back and went right after them, I think Trey Adams had his worst night of college football. The entire line was leaning forward and the speed and strength of the Buffs front four was way to much

Of course there is. There’s no natural leaders as far as I can tell, it sure as fuck isn’t their quarterback.

Add on the season has pretty much hit full downward spiral mode, makes sense they seem to have checked out.

Will they show up to the apple cup? :noidea:
You know the cougs desperately need to get this monkey off their back and finally get a win against their rivals.

Haven't had the stomach to read any post game from the staff. Probably won't until after the AC. There really aren't words that can make this better anyway. They just are not living up to the standard we expect, even from a young team.

I just worry about the long term implications of them checking out. It's concerning that after two close losses to good teams (Oregon and Utah) they have seemingly just given up. I'd feel better about this season if I had the impression that there was some modicum of resilience and making the best of every opportunity, but I don't see that personally.
