Did you buck up and buy one?

Or still window shopping??
No it takes me years to buy a car. I have two or three more phases of research. I am not in the personal satisfaction phase.

I generally strike quickly. Eyeballing doesn't hook me, but a good test drive and I'm done for.

I want to get to that phase ASAP...
Yeah I don't make a lot of money if I buy this it will be a retirement gift to myself. My greatest fear currently are massive first year depreciation and overall maintenance records.

I've bought 3 brand new cars in my life.

A 1974 Capri V6
A 1987 Camry (when they went to twin cams)
And my 1995 SHO (traded in the Camry on it)

Took a trade in bath on the first 2.

Won't buy new again (unless I win a lottery).

Yeah I get.

Been buying preowned for so long I just want something that feel more like mine versus ours

Buy Honda they run forever with very little maintenance and as vehicles age no one else really touches them. I would include Toyota but their designs have cramped the engine compartment and there are too many repairs that require you to pull the whole engine and that becomes a 12 hour 2k job.

My second choice would be Nissan. If you want a car the Maxima is tough to beat and I'm on my second Pathfinder that I love. Best vehicle my family ever owned was a Honda Pilot, got 12 years and 160k on it (wrecked it twice) and never put anything but oil and tires with the exception of the timing belt at 100k because you need to.

If you want reliability buy Honda.
If you want reliability with a little sexy mixed in buy Nissan.

Don't waste your time time chatting, spend your time researching towing companies that respond in a timely manner and rental car companies that can hook you up with a solid car while your POS Volvo is in the shop.

Glad I could help. :thumb:

Honda's are generally solid cars and their reliability is tough to beat. Nissan makes some nice cars, but it's my understanding that their car lineup all uses the CVT transmission nowadays and that thing is a pile of hot garbage.

I did own a 99 Maxima ( it was 3 yrs old when I bought it) and I really liked that sled. The engine was stronger than the BHP rating, the Bose sound system was stellar and the loaded interior was comfy. Sadly the interior started falling apart around the 6 yr/100,000 mark and I had to bail before it completely lost it's trade/resale value.

Comfort overall comfort is a big concern. I have Honda and Toyota now looking for a roomy comfy road car

I've got a 2016 Pathfinder and I love it. Test drove just about everything and I kept coming back to it.

My main concern about Volvo is they are about to go 100% electric so everything is going to change and I'm not sure what that will mean for parts availability.

Who told you they are about to go 100% electric? A few years back they were bought out and given huge amount of cash in the 100 millions if I recall to revamp the entire line? While they are creating an electric model I have not heard they are going 100% electric

What is actually happening is they are putting like hybrid electrical engines in and they are off schedule.

The ultimate goal is to become a niche like Telsa.

Just Google “Volvo to go electric”.
