I don't see how being in the SEC is a benefit. The B1G has more top 25 teams in the CFP right now. Plus it's all about timing. LSU finishes the year with two unranked teams that they should beat easily and then a top 5 UGA team (assuming they win out). OSU finishes the season with three straight top 15 teams. Recency bias definitely can make an impact, especially if OSU wins their games impressively while LSU keeps winning close.
Take the homer glasses off dude. No one has a better resume right now than LSU and LSU is the #1 team in the country at this point in time.

I've gotta be honest, I'm starting to think OSU and Clemson are better than LSU this year. Just looking at the games played and how they've turned out. OSU has demolished everyone, and while the UNC game looks bad, Clemson looks like they're maybe starting to round into typical late season Clemson. The biggest problem for LSU is their defense is not set up at all to stop an elite offensive team. Oklahoma-LSU would be interesting in that you're looking at two highly explosive offenses and two suspect defenses. OSU and Clemson, when playing at their best, are the two most complete teams in the nation.

Ohio St and Clemson seem to be more rounded teams. LSU while they have talent and still at times they DL is a force, their defense struggles at times. And I could care less about the Bama game, it's just a trend over the entire season. Winning narrow victories while giving up 25, 30, 40 points. That will catch up to you if a team like UGA or Clemson starts clicking...who have great defenses.

At this point, sure they have the best resume. "At this point"...who cares about 10 weeks into the season.

They still played all of those teams and beat them. An to be fair, Auburn they were winning by double digits the whole game (they didn’t cover) an same with Texas. They won’t at Texas too and gumpville. I get what you mean as auburn should have never beat Oregon and LSU didn’t destroy them. But LSU probably has the best resume in the country. I can’t see them getting jumped unless they lose.
Oh, I agree totally LSU has the best resume and will stay at 1 if they win out. I was just saying if #1 vs #4 ends up being LSU vs Oregon/Oklahoma/Utah it won't be huge mismatch.

Fair point. I guess I was more saying if the #4 seed is a Pac team or Oklahoma, that seems far better for the 1 seed than likely #3 Clemson.

It shouldn’t be but they will always have the benefit of the doubt.
An at least one of those teams won’t be top 15 (Michigan) maybe even two or all 3 after they play OSU. An if LSU does blow Georgia out, which certainly isn’t out of the question as Georgia’s offense has struggled then it might not matter what OSU does to their B1G west opponent.
I don't know that losing to us will automatically move michigan out of the top 15. They still have two other games before us, and several teams in front of them will be losing between now and then as well. If Iowa knocks off Minnesota this week and ND wins out, both of which are very possible, I think that will solidify their spot.

I know Georgia's offense has struggled, but LSU's defense just isn't very good. If they can get 400 yards and 24 points against Florida, they should have no problem breaking 30 or so against LSU. I know LSU's offense is amazing, but so is Georgia's defense. Nobody they've played has even hit 20 points on them in regulation, and only one team has his 20 points period.

Cool. I also don't know that there are many people that think OSU couldn't be unbeaten with LSU's schedule either. Our offense is just as good and our defense is much better.

Yeah I could see that with Michigan. They still have some decent wins. He’ll the Illinois one keeps looking better. They just can’t get absolutely annihilated by you guys.

I would argue Florida’s offense is improved but yeah, LSU D isn’t good. I do see it being a close sec champ game.

...or I will move to your state and shit all over your great scenery.

TIA

Great scenery in those states but Eugene and Salt Lake suck balls. Provo > SLC. But dying on a maintain top > living in SLC.

2 SEC teams is one 1 too many.

I agree, but at the same time, I just want it to where it's impossible for the committee to put Bama in. You know how bad they want to.

P5 Conference Champions only should be in the playoffs. If people want wildcards in the playoffs expand it to 8 teams.

Provo is pretty close to SLC. Your take is like saying Seattle sucks but Bellevue is awesome. They're basically the same place.

I don't agree. There's gonna be years where multiple conferences have 3 loss champions.

Conference champions should be first priority, but I don't mind two teams from the same conference if both are clearly better than a champion from another conference.

It's still possible for Florida, Virginia and UCLA to be conference champs this season.

In every other sport Conference Champions move on, except College Football. Regardless if there are 5 undefeated P5 Conference Champions one will not be playoff bound. I like the idea of wild card teams getting in the playoffs or a deserving G6 team. That is why I am in favor of an eight team playoff. Four team playoff, Conference Champions or an undefeated Notre Dame.

If a P5 Champion has 3 or 4 losses so be it. Win your conference.

Meh, I really don't care about other college sports, and I'd prefer an honest attempt at getting in the 4 best teams than just the 4 best conference champs/

Oh then michigan won't be top 15 then, because we are going to absolutely annihilate them.

Florida's offense has improved, but it's hard not to have from what it was. That said, I definitely think Georgia's offense is better and LSU's defense isn't improving really. I'm looking forward to it, assuming it ends up being LSU/UGA. That's gonna be a great game.

I’m just looking at the potential 4th seed this year though. As long as they don’t screw themselves you are looking at Oregon/Utah or Oklahoma. Those teams really won’t put the fear of God in any of the top 3 teams currently. Now if they do screw the pooch you are looking at an Alabama team that could be healthy. Yeah, then I’d agree with you this year.

No, I was agreeing with you that this year the 4-seed is very likely a good drop off from 3 (assuming the top 3 win out). I’d far rather face whatever team comes in at 4 than Clemson.

It's not just college sports ... in every team sport.

Example: 2006 St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals won their division with an 83-78 record and went on to win the World Series.

If Clemson, ohio state, LSU, Oklahoma and Oregon win out, Clemson, ohio state and LSU should be in the playoffs. Oregon and Oklahoma will have a legitimate bitch if Georgia or Alabama is selected before them. Just my opinion ... if you want wildcard teams in expand the playoffs to 8.
