1) This thread needs to cross the 10,000 threshold.
2) We need a new banner.

Those are the two main things keeping Nebraska football a dumpster fire.
what the Huskers need is the song played" Eye Of The Tiger" after tunnel walk

thats right --it may be too goofy

and also correct at the same time

listen

When I was a kid growing up in the 70's, my buddies and I used to go pheasant and coyote hunting on 96th and Harrison St.
Harrison west of 90th was gravel road back then.
Imagine 12 year old kids walking down the street with rifles and shotguns today. LOL
We used to live in LaVista just south of Harrison between 84th and 90th. We would walk to the north side of Harrison with our shotguns all the time. Now there's houses everywhere there.

My junior year of high school, in 1979, I had a fully functional double barrel shotgun at my work station in machine shop for months while I worked on building new firing pins for it.
Liberals today would piss themselves if they even suspected someone had touched a shotgun .

what are they doing there? and does Calvert still not go all the way through to 33rd?
Calvert, isnt that in lincoln?

Harrison was widened from 144th to 156th and the jackasses started construction on Giles 2 weeks ago so traffic has been all sorts of jacked up

Yeah. I know a couple of people that have houses in that area now. I lived in the 90th and Q area. We'd walk through a couple neighborhoods, west down paved Q Street, south on paved 96th to Harrison. That's where it hit gravel and cornfields south, southwest, and west, forever. That was the edge of town.
12 year old kids walking through neighborhoods and down busy streets with rifles or shotguns over our shoulders. Carrying pheasants, quail, or coyote skins. Never got as much as a weird look from anyone. LOL

Yep. You had good hunting out there too back in the day.

By the time we were 16, we had our rifles and shotguns gun-racked in the back windows of our pickups. That was even in the school parking lot all day. It wasn't even a thought.

Much needed upgrades though. When I was a kid Sapp Brothers was wayyyy out of town. Now that's all city and still growing.

Yea i drive it daily, you could argue they needed to go all the way through 168th, maybe even to 180th but they also need to widen 156th 168th and 180th between center and harrison too

We used to fish the ponds on what is now Johnny Goodman golf course on 96th and Harrison. We called it Apple Tree golf course back then. We'd listen to Lyell Bremser call Husker football games on our 9 volt transistor radio and catch carp and bullhead all day.
At some point we'd wade out into the water and retrieve golf balls to sell back to golfers going by. There was good money in golf balls. It didn't take us long to figure out what were the cheap ones and what were the more expensive ones.
"Hey, you wanna by some golf balls"?
"Let's see watcha got kid"
"These are a nickle, these are a dime, and I'll need a quarter apiece for these here." LOL

Nobody ever made us leave. Not even the green's keeper. He'd ask if we were having any luck fishing and be on his way.

When I was at Boys Town it was a mile or so to Burke HS. There was nothing but cornfields and a small hotel in between us, on the two lane blacktop that was Dodge street.
