Lamar Jackson is far more talented than Kaepernick. I'd LIKE to see him succeed (fun to watch these guys make professional athletes look silly) but I just don't think it'll happen due to eventual (I'm betting) injury and hasn't really proven taking over many games against average/good Ds with his arm - something all good QBs eventually have to do.

I still wouldn't trust him in the playoffs where a majority of defenses you play are much better and scheme better. Hence what we saw with the Chargers (face it, his TDs were garbage time).

Kaepernick played possibly 3 or 4 good games in his career.

Kaepernick played possibly 3 or 4 good games in his career.

He had a lot of games with 100+ QB rating (some quite up there), they were usually just around 200 yards and a couple TDs with minimal attempts and a lot of rushing. Very similar to Lamar Jackson. That said, Kaep was NOWHERE NEAR the runner Jackson is and had a far superior defense, so that's the major outlier. Jackson also has a stronger arm.

Yes, Kaepernick was a one-trick pony.

I mean... they both kind of are until Lamar Jackson proves he can TAKE OVER a game with just his arm (against good Ds anyway, Miami/Cincy don't count). Maybe he can, maybe he can't. Once the read option was figured out and it was taken away from Wilson/Kaepernick, Wilson proved he could pass the ball. Kaep did not.

Once Lamar's FAR superior running ability (compared to Kaep) is taken away, let's see if he can pass it. He did show some good stuff against Arizona (40+ attempts I believe), but every other game over 30 attempts has been incredibly lackluster.

Plus his threat of the run is pretty huge and is VERY different from what Steve Young/Russell Wilson did/does.

No question to that in bold. I'm not going to say he's better than Vick yet, but Jackson is a showing to be an elite level runner with pretty good passing skills. Vick was an elite level runner with a cannon arm but not as accurate. Kaep was not an elite level runner and not really any better as a passer.

Kaep's game imo was pattern more like Cam...just not as good.

Frequently running QBs eventually get hammered. See, RGIII, Luck.

While Lamar Jackson's running abilities are exceptional, its only a matter of time until he gets hit hard.

Cam light is a good way to describe Kaep, imo.

This is true...eventually it will happen. I will say this yr, he's been much better at avoiding hits, but occasionally he still sticks his head in there. Whereas RW is looking to get what he can and give it the ole feet first slide.

He was a one trick pony, if he was any good he'd still be playing in the NFL.
he did 2 things well at times.

passed
ran

thats 2 tricks.

23 times over a 100 rating is what it is.

hes better than ryan finley and many others.
