Bring it on

Washington Post's Mark Maske reports there is "positive momentum" that a new NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement will be agreed upon before this postseason is completed.
One of the big discussions of the new CBA is the schedule, and Maske reports it "is increasingly likely to include a 17-game regular season". Adding another game to the regular season has been viewed as a big deal by the players for safety reasons, so the NFLPA will be receiving other benefits in return if a 17-game schedule is agreed upon. Other issues with the CBA include the revenue split, player punishment, rookie contracts, and the franchise tag. There should be more reports on those issues over the next couple of months.

I'd like to see a bigger season. Turn those 4 preseason games into 2 extra games (regular season)

If you want to play preseason games in summer, it's up to you. Donate money to charity or @Darrell Green Fan 's returned puppy crusade.

Means teams will have to do better with position depth and organize their monies better. Challenge all around but more competitive games for the fans.

Can't blame the owners for trying to milk the gold goose, but I'd rather keep it the same. I don't see a need to add another game solely to line the owners pockets with more green....does nothing for the game.

Agree. If anything I'd like to see more OTA so teams would be more game ready coming out of the gate.

When MLB decided to add the wildcard level...they were expanding the playoffs, the intent was more revenue, but they enhanced the postseason that had been DIV winners only for 100 yrs..

Adding 1 regular season game does what?

The NFL is toying with a team in London...another dumb idea. One way they can boost revenue is ppv out of market games on an individual basis.

If the NFL do in fact get a team in London then ik, add another game and make pre season 3 games. But if London doesn't work (I don't want it too) then leave it alone

Besides the 17 game sched, they are talking about adding 2 teams to the play-offs and only 1 team gets a bye. Also take away off field discipline decisions away from Goodell and appoint an independent arbitrator. And less punitive penalties for marijuana.

Unless the owners let Kahn move the Jags over there, I don't see this happening any time soon as in the next decade...I don't see an expansion team being born over there.

I prefer 16, and the current playoff format, but I think shedding 2 of the preseason games and moving those to the regular season makes more sense than adding 1 game...every other yr you get 9 home games? Goofy.

Adding 2...so 7 teams get in per conference and only the top seed gets a bye?...That's not the worse thing...basically adding one game and the 2 seed no longer gets a bye. The problem I see with it is that some yrs, that 7th team will probably be a decent team...other yrs they will be a sacrificial lamb to the 2 seed.

It could happen...The players will probably give up something juicy to get less punitive damages for pot and player discipline power moved from the commish.

How is 17 going to work? So some teams get 8 home games and 9 away games (outside of the London bullshit) and other teams get more home games? That seems like bullshit.

Would the extra game would be played at a 'neutral' location? Whatever the fuck that means. The 49ers will host the Rams at LAs stadium which is 'neutral'! Yah since that makes a fuck ton of sense and is equal.

Part of it was having every team play one neutral site game, Shark.

Yah.. and what does that mean? Odds are one stadium is still going to be closer to a team with a more favorable fan density/time zone than the other. The Seattle Seahawks are playing the New York Giants, so we'll host it in Buffalo! WOOHOO!

Can't just teleport both teams to the Death Star and have them battle there.

..........

Or could they? :puzzled:

Yeah, I was thinking the same. A game in Toronto, for instance if the Bills are playing or a game in Vancouver if the Hawks play isn't really neutral. A lot of shit to figure out for sure.

Could be fun to have Canadian refs though. "Personal 'fool', facemask, 15 yard penalty."

I think more London games for sure but I would think they want to mix it up some. We will see about Mexico City and that stadium. The league needs to be sure that field is playable. At 15 billion in annual revenue, you would think they could chip in the hat to get field turf put in down there.
