Flex schedule, we got booted from our prime time game against the Eagles. They opted to go with the Whiners and Packers instead

ok i could have SWORE they said when a team is flexed out of a prime time game they would not put them in the early slot when they started this whole "flex game" thing and this makes it twice now in 2 years where they stick the hawks into a 10am game. If the 49ers lose and the Eagles win they just flexed out 2 first place teams just to try and be cute. Nice move NFL i hope it bites you in the ASS! Thanks a lot Feagles for being average in a weak division.

Are you disputing that helmet to helmet hits are a personal foul?
They can be. But there isn't a rule that says it's a penalty to hit "helmet to helmet." Here's what the rules don't allow you to do when it comes to helmet hits:

1) hit a defenseless player in the head/neck. it doesn't matter what the hitter uses (helmet, forearm, shoulder, doesn't matter). you can blast a defenseless player, but not in the head/neck.

2) lower the head/helmet to initiate forcible contact. it doesn't matter where the contact is initiated on the hit player either. you can hit someone square in the chest, but if you lower your head to do it, by rule it's a penalty.

Helmets crack on every play as soon as the ball is snapped. A RB running between the tackles is involved in helmet to helmet contact nearly every time.

There is not a penalty called helmet to helmet, nor is a "helmet to helmet" hit an automatic penalty unless it falls in 1 of the 2 above categories. It's constantly misrepresented by fans and announcers though.

So the 49ers lose to US and the network's reaction is to reward them and downgrade us? Or maybe it's more about Philly not being all that special?

So after last night's win, do we stop worrying about margin of victory for this team going forward? It's now proven that it doesn't mean a whole lot. The 49ers were stomping teams that we were just getting past, and it didn't matter last night. I think we play to maximize the chance for a win, not to maximize the chance to win big.

You are correct JMR

All that matters is you stock up on wins in September, October and November and are peaking in December and January.

bottom line. Right now we are only one half of a game behind the 49ers

Yeah, no doubt about that. But why didn't they just schedule it like that to begin with? It's not like GB or SF has suddenly picked up a bunch of fans this year. GB is a perennial darling, and SF has one of the best winning traditions and came into the season with quite a bit of hype.

San Fran had the second worst record in the league last year. That is what the schedule makers went on. Now they have a good record, change it up. Fans are climbing back on the band wagon

I heard that rumor was gaining steam last week so I wasn't surprised when it happened today. What did surprise me was the thought was our game flexed out for Dal/NE. Didn't see SF/GB getting moved in.

SF is darling franchise though. Fans everywhere. And maybe they had a bad record last year, but it's not like they're an irrelevant team. Jimmy G, hot commodity new coach, Sherman yapping. I dunno...I just don't see how it could be a big surprise to anyone that GB-SF is a hot matchup. GB vs a polished turd would probably still draw better than one of our games.

If Philly was say 6-3 and playing well, it probably wouldn't have been flexed. Right now Philly is an up and down team yet somehow tied for first.

I thought the Hawks would be a year or two away with the rebuild of our D but HFA is in striking distance. It was great to see our D energized and making plays all over the field. Held the best rush team to under 90yds. Great win going into the bye week.

I think getting HFA is not going to be easy. We have the same record as New Orleans. They have the tie breaker.

There scorching hot right now

I get your point, but they just got smoked by Atlanta, who's very not good. Certainly not a lock to run the table.

NO is good, but scorching hot is debatable after their ice bucket challenge vs Atlanta 4 days ago. They also play CAR twice still, as well as SF and another matchup with the Falcons on the road this time.

But for sure getting HFA will be difficult. We have some tough teams coming up (none tougher than SF though), but our competition does too. In addition to NO, SF has to play GB as well as us in week 17. That's 3 really tough games for the Niners.

To me, the Packers probably have the inside track. After they play @ SF in week 12, their toughest remaining game is @ MIN.

The best thing we can do is just keep winning and see what happens. With the D possibly rounding into form, we will be tough to beat.

Probably has to do with both teams being divisional leaders and the winner has HFA throughout the playoffs... I see why they made the decision... If Eagles had a better record, then it probably would've stayed...

Yeah, their schedule isn't going to be easy... They still have quite a few divisional games remaining, which we saw last weekend, doesn't matter the record of opponents in divisional games... 4 of their last 7 games are on the road... Their last two road games are going to be tough, especially if the Titans and Panthers could be playing for a WC spot...

Yeah, I'm in agreement on that. I don't think this is some injustice or anything...just it's a bit lame, especially since Philly is still a division leader, and they took the game all the way down from prime time to a 10am pacific start. It's gonna cause Hawks fans to miss out on all sorts of action in the early time slot. The only 2 games now in the 4pm eastern slot that day are Jags v Titans and Cowboys v Patriots, so I guess the league is also telling us they really want us to watch Dallas vs NE.

Good game on Monday Night Hawks.

A huge STFU message to the Niners and their fans
