Should the Bears be interested in Cam Newton?

For my sake, yup.

If they actually want to utilize their window, no.

They shouldn't be interested in Teddy Ballgame.

Cuz that would be a great move.

You're saying he can't recover from his current injuries? I think he can and I also believe he's at worst a reliable QB and at best a very good one...IE better than Cousins when he's healthy...much better

I’m not a big Kirk guy, but I wouldn't switch from Kirk to current cam

Bears need to get their identity back. They don't need a elite QB (not that Cam is at this point), they need to build around their defense and rushing game. They just need a good game manager more than anything. Hell, didn't Rex Grossman "take them" to a superbowl

No. There's better options available. I've got my eye on Dalton, Bridgewater and Alex Smith (if his leg isn't completely destroyed). Cam is an older, more injured but slightly better version of Mitch Trubisky.

I would go for Bridgewater over Newton but I think a healthy Newton is a definite upgrade over Trubisky.

And if he's not healthy, like he has been the last 2 seasons? That's why i wouldn't touch him. Someone just decent who can make the proper reads and deliver the ball adequately would be a big upgrade on what's going on right now. I'm not asking for great, just functional and durable.

IMO CAR would be foolish to just release him. If BAL could get something for Flacco which I didn’t think they would...if healthy they should be able to get something for Newton.

But Flacco's Elite

lol, that was a fun debate for a few years...now we know for sure...he wasn't...lol

Heh...other day I was helping my son research about pro athletes who have earned the most money over their careers. We found a Business Insider article from Sweptember where he got his info about NFL players - surprise, most are QB's - and the blurb about Flacco was this:

One thing to know: Joe Flacco has elite career earnings.

The 37 highest-paid NFL players of all time

I think it was said by many that BAL would live to regret that signing...I'm not sure if that ever happened, but to get a trade partner I'm sure even surprised them a little...I'm sure they were all set to release him.

That's spot on. They need a guy who can read defenses and deliver the ball accurately and on time. If Alex Smith wasn't toast, he would be perfect but that ain't happening. And it's closer to 4 years for Cam not being healthy. His head and heart haven't been healthy since Von Miller ripped out his soul but his injuries started the next season. I have doubts his shoulder issue is resolved too. Can't trust that. 30 years old and his body has taken so much punishment, it feels like 50. Same boat as Andrew Luck.

Agreed, but there's a long list of QBs that would be upgrades over Trubisky at this point. Some of the guys that COULD be available this winter:

Tom Brady
Dak Prescott
Philip Rivers
Teddy Bridgewater
Cam Newton
Jameis Winston
Marcus Mariota
Eli Manning
Case Keenum
Ryan Tannehill
Kyle Allen
Brandon Allen
