Jimmy G has looked pretty good over 8 games but Shanahan is doing a great job where he doesn't have to carry the load or anything to it. Easy throws and setting him up for success. When you have a great defense, nice OL and great running game you can be a game manager and that's exactly what he has been a game manager. His numbers aren't anything special but he seems to be making the right plays for the most part. Could give him some trouble if he were to get into a shootout with a great QB that can carry the load, we will see.

Not according to the radio guys tonight but they coulda been wrong. Maybe Kap had a running TD in there?

I read an article today. Jeff Garcia was the last Niners QB to throw 4 TD's in the first 3 quarters of a game, which Garoppolo matched last night. Garcia accomplished that in 2003. During the TV broadcast, they mentioned that Kap was the last Niner to throw 4 TD's in game, which happened in 2012.

Possibly holding something back until they hit the more important games. No way he's just a game manager type like Alex Smith. He made some throws last night that Smith would never even dream of making.

“It’s humbling for the defense. We need to be humbled. It was a humbling game. You need to be humbled on all levels, and I think there’s accountability on all levels. We’ll watch the tape, and we’ll watch it critically, and everybody will watch it and judge themselves critically. That was not championship football.”

“The results will be what they will be, sometimes you’ll win, sometimes you’ll lose,” Sherman said. “But if you do what you’re supposed to do, when you’re supposed to do it, how you’re supposed to do it, you’ll have the results you want. To sit here and say, ‘Man, we won,’ is not how I am. It’s not the accountability we need, and is not leadership.”

“It happens, and it happened at a good time,” Sherman said. “We have time to go back to the drawing board and correct those mistakes. We get to see this team again in a couple weeks. We have a tough game against Seattle next week, so you need to tighten things up.

“I think guys need to tighten things up, myself included. You always have to start with yourself, and I need to tighten things up. I have to be where I’m supposed to be. I have to get the guys on the ground, and we’ll do better as a defense.”

His numbers were great last night. He carried the team to a victory, this was his best game ever. Adding a legit WR has really helped

Not holding back....just didn't require it....and didn't have the legit talent to do so. The Samuel drop in the end zone is a microcosm of what hurt the passing game with this team. The WR's have been flat out terrible. Getting a guy like Sanders really steps the aerial game up a notch IMO.

Garoppolo carried his team last night because the defense was not on (largely due to the short turnaround against a relatively unknown offense) and the running game never kicked into gear. He did more last night than every other day because they simply threw more....but he's been like this since Day 1.

Anyone who watched last nights game and came away thinking that was 'game managing' really shouldn't be commenting on it in the first place. JimmyG. was converting 3rd downs at a high level, and made a lot of big time throws that few QB's can make.

Good game by the Cardinals. The 49ers have not faced a mobile QB this year like Murray and the Cards made some second half adjustments that the defense struggled with. Defense struggled last night and some games are going to go that way. Really sucks losing Kwon Alexander. He was having a really good year. The running game will get a boost with Juice and McGlinchey coming bacl/

I don't put a lot of stock good or bad in Thursday night games especially divisional battles because they just tend to be outliers since the quick turnaround typically favors the offense. I'll draw some more firm conclusions with the rematch a couple weeks down the road.

So I'm not going to sit here and prep for Jimmy G's MVP campaign but I'm not going to say the 9ers D was exposed and it's all over for them either.

Cardinals are what I would call a scary bad team like the Bucs are. A team that's not bad just not talented enough or executes consistently to be a good team but when things go right for them they are fully capable of pushing any team and making them earn that win.
