And I really dont like all this momentum the 49ers are putting together I dont see them losing next week which will probably put them at 6-0. This division has been so frustrating there is 0 breaks If its not the rams its the 49ers if its not the 49ers its the rams then eventually the cardinals meanwhile teams like the patriots coast to the playoffs or the NFC East division where the first place team is 3-3

49ers are a good team. I was surprised that many were so pessimistic about them. I thought that they would win 9-10 games this season and a 49ers fan thought I was crazy, now it's looking like that was an underestimation on my behalf.

Well having watched the Browns game and I know there were a lot of good things the defense did but there were some breaks we caught in that game if the browns receivers would have caught some key passes for first downs and that one guy literally botching a pass to his hands for an INT in the 4th quarter that could have changed the outcome of the game. I saw a decent amount of pressure but there was nothing there to really penetrate the pass game.

I think the issue with the pass rush is that I don't believe Ansah is really healthy or the pass rusher he was in the past. When you look at the snap counts he hasn't been on the field all that much.

Also I feel like one of the issues with the pass rush is Clowney and Ansah adjusting to the Seahawks defensive scheme. We run a lot of DL stunts and I believe it was Clowney himself that said they're still getting acclimated to the Seahawks defense. Clowney also has all of the talent in the world, but I imagine it must be difficult to adjust from playing 3-4 OLB to a 4-3 DE. Clowney hasn't played that position since college, and the fact that the Seahawks run so many stunts probably makes it a bit more difficult.

I do think things will improve. No reason to believe the pass rush would continue to stagnate or regress. Unfortunately at this point, there is nowhere to go but up.

I wouldn't expect much this weekend either. Lamar Jackson is too shifty.

Wow... Rams traded Marcus Peters to the Rams today... Looks like we'll get to play against him 2 out of the past 3 weeks...

Reed is back but don't expect a whole bunch of sacks today. Todays game plan will be about containing Lamar Jackson, not chasing him

As we have seen with Wilson, you contain these type QB's and you get sacks. Jackson is just another Kordell Stewart to me. Maybe with a little better running ability and arm.

Not really going to evaluate our pass rush yesterday as much since it was against a running QB but next week, we better have at least 3 or 4 sacks going up against the Atlanta Falcons... If we don't put a consistent pass rush together against that bad OL, then we have some serious problems... I expect us to get no less than 3 sacks next week... Anything less would be a major disappointment, especially if Matt Schaub is the QB...

I'm kinda getting concerned on our 1st round draft selections from Pete/John...

upload_2019-10-21_16-13-12.png

Everyone of these players got drafted higher than most had them slated... I'm not against taking guys earlier than projected but they better pan out if you're going to do that... Reason I bring this up is our last (2) #1 picks have hardly played and are not starting... Why pick a guy #1 if you're not going to have them start? For example, Collier gets only 10 snaps yesterday while B. Jackson (32) and R. Green (26)... So they basically got 2-3x's more snaps and that's with us being shorthanded with Ziggy on the mend... Is Collier not coming along like they thought he would? Is he not meeting expectations in camp? Don't tell me that he just came back and they're trying to ease him into the fold because Reed just came back and he played the entire game, while only taking 2 snaps off... He played more snaps than everyone on the DL... I can at least respect the Ifedi pick since he's been starting for most of his career... If Collier and Penny don't pan out, that messes with quality depth on our roster if anything...

Just had to vent after hearing about Collier only getting 10 snaps yesterday when we're short handed at that position... Why did we draft him if that's how we're going to use him would be my question... Wouldn't be much of an issue if we were actually playing well on the DL against the pass but we're not... We're down right horrible and there are no excuses imo with all the talent we brought while using a #1 pick on a DE...

Collier is the only 1st round DE with out a sack.

ME too...

whats that attachment?? I see players names on it from other teams like zeek and taco etc. Wait is that a list of Cowboys first rounders?

Hawks need to fire their scout team!

imagine the Hawks drafting Nick Chubbs over Penny! He was there for the taking! i remember some of you guys screaming over the selection with Chubbs still on the board!

Hindsight is 20/20 but he was listed above Penny in almost every ranking so it's not like they didn't know.

Sort of reviving this thread, but am I the only one who thinks that the Ansah experiment is a failure? I was willing to give him some time to adjust to the defense and recover from that injury, but he has now played in 6 games and seems to completely disappear. I read somewhere a few weeks ago that Clowney has been one of the most double teamed defensive lineman in the NFL, but Ansah really hasn't showed up whatsoever.

Even if we had drafted Chubb, with the way that Chris Carson has played (minus the fumbles) I would find it hard to imagine Chubb getting many more carries than Penny has this year for us. Penny's lack of impact IMO is just that he hasn't been as good as Carson, which is a hard threshold to exceed.

penny is a finesse garbage back, thats why he isnt getting carries. goes down like a cheap whore at even the slightest contact.

Ziggy needs to be benched if he can't show improvement this game against a rivalry that we're chasing in the standings... If he can't get up for this game, then he probably won't be useful the remainder of the way... Take him out of the rotation and start Green in his spot would be my preference if Ziggy doesn't do squat again... He may just not have it anymore, who knows... What we do know, is he hasn't been productive by any stretch of the imagination...
