But they paid a lot for him. 2 first round picks ( 2020 and 2021 ) and a 4th round in 2021 i do believe.

Was he worth it? thats a steep price and he wont fix whats wrong with that team unless he can become a Running back like Gurley of old.

I would have gave up a 1st and 2nd in 2020 for Ramsey ( Seahawks have 2 second round picks )

I made this thread to get your Opinions on what you all would have gave up for him?

I am so happy we didn't do this trade.

2 firsts is steep then add in a 4th and yeah. Only Reason i would have did a 1st and 2nd is because the Hawks have 2 2nds and i would have gave them the later of the two picks.

Hawks will need all these picks they have next year though to rebuild the defense.

Oddly enough the way the Hawks have drafted in the first round under Carroll and Schneider I'm not so sure they would miss those 1st rounders.

Off the top of my head their last pick 1st rounder that you would consider a pro bowl talent was in 2010 with Earl Thomas and I suppose I would throw Okung from that year as well since his problem wasn't a lack of production but being made out of glass. To be fair though they went 3 years in a row without having a 1st rounder so no telling who they would've gotten if they had those picks.

I don't like the trade for the Rams because that's going to put them 5 straight years without a 1st rounder and with what Ramsey is going to want to get paid they are also tying up a lot of money with just a few guys. So now they have crippled themselves in draft assets to fill out the roster with cheap talent and in cap space to sign and resign guys to bolster the roster.

For the Seahawks despite the steep cost I think it would've been a good trade for them. Ramsey is arguably the best CB in the league and he's young. Since you're looking at drafting in the 20s it's unlikely you would get two guys too come close to what Ramsey would bring.

You also have plenty of cap space to give him his contract without it really impairing your ability to do other things with that money and the way Schneider maneuvers in the draft I don't think those draft assets given up would've been hurt too badly either.

Hard to decide what I'm happier about -- that we didn't make this trade or that the Rams did. They now don't have a 1st round pick for like 5 years or something like that, and there's no way the upgrade from Peters to Ramsey is going to get them back to the level they were the last 2 years.

But even given so, those 1st rounders are still very valuable. Schneider could probably take 1 of those picks and turn them into 4 or 5, and to me that overrides the lack of hits they've made when actually making a pick in the 1st round.

It's not just the draft picks that we'd give up that would make signing Ramsey a bad deal. It's also the fact that he's looking to get close $17M per year on a new deal. At least that is the rumor I read.

He is going to eat up a ton of their cap space too. My only issue with any trade like this is that a lot of the time they never seem to work out. Maybe its because of the different systems or coaches or adjusting to a new location but its hard to transfer that same game to a new team. I think the best way is to know how to draft to maintain success.

The guy is a great player but the Rams need a lot more than him if they want to make another run at a SB. Peters was not good and got burned all the time for big plays and Ramsey is a massive upgrade but Weddle has been average, Talib is hurt (again) and frankly, wasn't playing all that great. Their secondary was getting lit up week after week and they had to make this move so they could have a shut down corner and play man instead of zone. Jalen gives them a guy who can take away the opposition's top WR but they still have holes. A huge price to pay and I'm not sure if he will be worth it but the Rams really are out of options. It's try to win now or nothing for a while.
Frankly, I didn't want the guy on the Hawks but he would have made the team instant SB favorites in the NFC. But it's far from a guarantee and the price was just way too high for my liking.

they got him for 2 years right? he has 2 years left on his contract does he not? So if they lose him in 2021 they will get a 3rd for him.

His base Salary for 2020 is over 13 million ( 13.7 million ) If they cut him after this season they owe him nothing in 2020 and there is no dead cap money also. Wow.

I guess that's an insurance policy for the team in the event Ramsey gets into some sort of off the field trouble, but 2 1sts and a 4th would be an incredibly high price to get a guy for half a season.

That's a steep price, granted he's probably the best CB. If Seattle is looking to upgrade at CB, there will be some teams looking to sell and even though they won't be on the level as Ramsey, they will still be good players at a cheaper draft pick.

improved pass rush can heal a lot of ills on this team. Sure last years Defense wasn't much better but they were better and that was because of the pass rush.
